Accents can be tough to understand depending on where the person is from.
If you’re used to hearing a certain accent, even if you don’t have it, then it is easy to understand. But if you meet someone from across the country or the world, it might be tough to understand each other at first.
Often times, people don’t even realize that they have a strong accent because they are so used to their own voice.
If you’ve ever heard Robert Irwin talk, then you know he has a pretty thick Australian accent. Robert was born in Buderim, which is on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. He still lives in the area, as his family is very involved at the Australia Zoo.
Robert comes from a very famous family. Robert’s father is the late great conversationalist, Steve Irwin. Steve passed away after a stingray attacked when Robert was only three years old. Even thought Robert didn’t get much time with his father, he is just like him, in looks and personality.
Since his death, Robert, his sister Bindi Irwin, and his mother Terri Irwin have continued Steve’s legacy.
In 2017, the Irwin crew appeared on an episode of Celebrity Family Feud. Unlike normal families, when celebrities compete on Family Feud, they don’t get to keep the money. Celebrities are always competing to donate money to charity.
The way that Family Feud works (in case you’ve never seen an episode in the last forty years), is two families are competing with each other to see who can get the most right answers. 100 people were polled for each question, and the top 3 to 8 answers are put up on the board.
There have been hosts over the course of Family Feud, but one of the best is Steve Harvey. He always finds something to laugh at every episode!
What makes every episode even better is Steve Harvey’s facial expressions. If he is confused or baffled by a contestant’s response, he has no problem showing that on his face. He is very expressive!
When it was the Irwin family’s turn to answer the question, “Name something that a 5-year-old might ask a bank to loan him money to buy.”
It was up to Robert to answer and he quickly said, “A car.”
But Steve had literally no idea what he was saying! Poor Robert tried to say it again because it was a valid answer, but Steve was still stumped.
Eventually, the host was able to get it, but sadly, the response wasn’t even up on the board.
During the episode, Steve asked if Robert had a girlfriend, to which the teenager laughed and said that he is more focused on wildlife at the moment.
