The Petersens are a family band that spreads joy with their bluegrass music. In addition to entertaining audiences at the Little Opry Theatre in Branson – the group has earned fans worldwide with their heartwarming video performances.

Just recently, The Petersens released a musical cover online that (according to them) is “a little different.” There’s actually a powerful message behind their song choice too.

A number of family bands have captured our hearts over the years, from The Osmonds to The Willis Clan. You gotta admit, it’s pretty amazing to see how much musical talent can run in one family!

The Petersens are a six-member ensemble consisting of four siblings, one mom, and a really close friend.

Each member contributes to the group with a different instrument. Mama Karen plays the bass – all the way to the “baby of the family,” Julianne, who plays the Mandolin.

When all six of them intertwine their abilities the sound is pure magic.

If you can’t make it out to the Ozark Mountains to take in one of The Petersens’ performances (or see them on tour), they have a YouTube channel with more than 316K subscribers!

Because The Petersens specialize in bluegrass, it makes sense that they’ve covered classics like “She’s Got You” and Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” Their recent video, however, features them performing a country-pop hit from 1998.

The video was filmed outside the Integrity Hills Chapel, which is a gorgeous venue at Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri. But the background isn’t the only thing that makes the video stunning.

Ellen is the main vocalist in the performance, and for those who don’t know – she has a beautiful, angelic voice. It pairs perfectly with Shania Twain’s Grammy award-winning song.

The Petersens are as mesmerizing to watch as they are to listen to.

Singer Ellen is surrounded by her three siblings (who also provide backup vocals), with Mom and family-friend Emmett on the sides. While each instrument is different, they’re all being played with a lot of heart and soul!

One viewer pointed out that the smiles in the video are quite contagious. Another said:

“Love from UK. Fantastic solo Ellen, brilliant harmonies, great instrumental parts as usual. Now my favourite version of this song. 👏”

There’s a special reason The Petersens chose to do a cover of “You’re Still the One.”

Although it seems like they’re a band destined for a long musical career – it doesn’t mean they haven’t run into people with opposite opinions.

The Petersens feel they can relate to the message behind the song. On YouTube, they explained:

“You’re Still the One” is a little different than our normal covers, but we absolutely love the message. After all these years of playing music together despite so many people advising us to choose a different path, it reminds us of the beauty of sticking to something good. Hope y’all enjoy!”
