Have you ever walked by the karaoke machines in the store and thought about singing into them? Most of us aren’t brave enough to do it, nor do we have the vocal ability to do it well.
One woman recently decided to give it a try, and she put on an amazing performance.
Christina Kokonis-Viggers was aware that people were listening, but she didn’t realize she was entertaining the entire store.
Her friend Amanda recorded the entire performance on her phone and shared it on social media. She also said:
“Afterwards, she got like this great applause. That was amazing. There are people that were stopping by and they just stood there the whole time.”
Christina chose to sing a song from Cabaret called “Maybe This Time.”
The lyrics to the song include:
“Two old friends meet again
Wearing older faces
And talk about the places they’ve been
Two old sweethearts who fell apart
Somewhere long ago
How are they to know
Someday they’d meet again
And have a need for more
Than reminiscin’
Maybe this time
It’ll be loving they’ll find
Maybe now they can be more
Than just friends
She’s back in his life
And it feels so right
Maybe this time, love won’t end
Yeah”
“It’s the same old feeling back again
It’s the one that they had way back when
They were too young to know
When love is real
But somehow, some things never change
And even time hasn’t cooled the flame
It’s burning even brighter
Than it did before
It got another chance
And if they take it
Maybe this time
It’ll be loving they’ll find
Maybe now they can be more
Than just friends
She’s back in his life
And it feels so right
Maybe this time, love won’t end
She’s smiling like she used
To smile way back then
She’s feeling like she used
To feel way back when
They tried, but something kept them
Waiting for this magic moment
Oh
Maybe this time
It’ll be loving they’ll find
Maybe now they can be more
Than just friends, oh…
She’s back in his life
And it feels so right
Maybe this time
Maybe this time
Maybe this time
Love won’t end”
Christina didn’t realize the video would go viral. She explained how Amanda said she was posting it.
“She said, ‘I’m going to put it on Facebook. This is going to blow up.’ And I said no.”
The video did go viral, and it got Christina a lot of attention. She received calls from talent recruiters and the TV show “America’s Got Talent.” She even made a Facebook page where she shares her music and videos of her performances.
Christina isn’t an amateur, though; she has been performing in front of crowds for a while.
She has been working with a nonprofit theater organization she’s worked on for years called Upstate Productions.
She recently even got nominated for best entertainer in Columbia County.
She posted about it on her Facebook page, as well. She said:
“Hey there, I am on the nomination list for best entertainer, as well as my theatre group for best non-profit community organization, and one more JD Urban, who did all my fabulous pictures is nominated for best artist (visual artist). Nominating ends tonight. Don’t forget DAY OF HOPE! Best fall event Please considered doing this. It would mean the world to me. Voting happens next week!”
While Christina may be busy with her theater work right now, who knows what the future holds for her?
With an amazing voice like that, she could do a lot of different things. More people deserve to hear her amazing vocals than just the shoppers in Sam’s Club. Hopefully, she will pursue a career in music someday or at least record an album for everyone to enjoy.
