Lauren and Kaylee Thomas are siblings from Kentucky who both share a passion for clogging. In fact, they’ve been participating in the sport since they were little, and have won many awards and made great achievements together as a duo.

If you haven’t seen them in action, the following performance will give you a taste of their incredible skills.

The Thomas sisters are no strangers to entering competitions. They took the stage at the Clogging Champions of America for a duet.

Lauren and Kaylee begin with their backs to the crowd, dressed in the same outfit and with the same hairstyle. Once the twangy music begins – look out! The pair grab onto each other’s hands and fly into their clogging routine with fast-moving feet, kicks, and an unbelievable amount of energy.

No, you’re not seeing double – there are really two of them.

There’s no denying that the sisters look a lot alike, especially since everything they’re wearing is matching. When they move in perfect unison it’s almost as if your eyes are playing tricks on you. But in reality, they’re not twins (and it’s not an illusion). Kaylee is the older sister of the pair and they have several years between them.

Clogging is a style of dance a lot of us don’t see very often. But according to State Symbols USA, it’s Kentucky’s official state dance and is part of their Appalachian culture.

Lauren and Kaylee’s performance is set to a quick-paced bluegrass song that matches up well with their routine. There are lots of spins, and they throw in fun moves like jumping and clicking their heels.

The Thomas sisters are champion dancers who’ve lit up many stages over the years.

Doubletoe Times shared that Kaylee began clogging at the age of five, while Lauren was three.

In 2012, they were thrilled to make an appearance on the Nickelodeon game show Figure It Out. They also brought their talent to a 2018 episode of The Gong Show with an act called “The Terror Tap Twins.”

The Clogging Champions of America (CCA) is a competition for performers of all levels, from beginners to advanced.

They were founded in 1997 with a plan of creating more interest and activity in the style of dance and competing, as well as promoting “fun and fellowship.” CCA ensures that beginner dancers get to enjoy clogging competitions as much as those who are advanced. On their website, CCA explains:

“The goal of CCA is to create an atmosphere of spirited and sportsmanlike competition, and to provide more opportunities for cloggers within the competitive and entertainment realms.”
