The beach ball, a simple yet iconic toy, gained immense popularity during the 1960s, often featured in beach-themed movies.
These lightweight, multi-colored balls have become a staple for families heading to the beach.
Their appeal isn’t limited to children; even adults can’t resist the urge to play with them, rekindling their youthful spirit.
But beach balls aren’t just for casual play.
With a dash of creativity, they can be transformed into something entirely different.
Case in point: a group of young men who decided to use beach balls as props for a ballet performance.
When you let a group of guys brainstorm a performance idea, the result is often delightfully unexpected.
Their chosen soundtrack for this unique ballet?
The iconic “Total Eclipse of the Heart.”
As the song’s intro played, the audience couldn’t help but chuckle.
One performer, holding a beach ball, turned to face the audience, a playful grin spread across his face, perfectly capturing the song’s lyrics.
But there was so much more.
The performance then delved into a portrayal of lifeguards, a profession many deem as cool due to its association with the beach.
However, the act highlighted a seldom-asked question: “How are the lifeguards feeling?”
The lyrics seemed to echo the inner thoughts of a lifeguard, emphasizing the loneliness that can come with always watching out for others, with no one checking in on them.
The performance also showcased camaraderie.
Another performer joined the first, and together they danced with their beach balls, moving in harmony and showcasing their emotions without any reservations.
Their dance, while entertaining, also seemed to mimic swimming motions, as if they were actually in the water.
It’s far from your typical ballet – however, their moves are quite entertaining!
The stage soon filled with more performers, each with their own beach ball.
In total, eight young men danced with seven beach balls, showing their impeccable (and comical) choreography.
The amount of time and effort they must have invested in practicing this routine is truly commendable.
I mean, not everyone can say they’ve perfected dancing with a beachball alongside their buddies.
Beyond their dance skills, their dedication and confidence were evident.
Taking the stage to entertain an audience is no small feat.
This performance showcased the positive impact of Dallas Baptist University on its students, molding them into focused and determined individuals.
On top of being impressive, their act is downright hilarious.
They had the audience cracking up as they held their beachballs and spun like beautiful ballerinas.
A viewer wrote:
“This is awesome! Needed something to smile about!”
Someone else commented:
“This is definitely 2:35 AM worthy.”
If you’re in need of a good chuckle this is one performance you don’t want to miss.
