Weddings are a beautiful display of love and commitment. Two people come together in holy matrimony, promising to stand by each other’s side until the end of time. Although people are getting increasingly innovative with their wedding celebrations, many still stick to the traditional “white wedding” route.
Friends and family enter the room and are seated. The wedding party walks down the aisle as the groom awaits his bride. When everything ends, the newlyweds sign the wedding register, and everyone celebrates with a joyous reception.
Shannon and Rick’s Niagara Falls wedding followed the traditional routine. But, the ceremony guests were treated to a surprise.
Music students were invited to the wedding for a special performance. While the wedding party walked down the aisle, the kids waited patiently in the crowd.
Upon receiving his cue, one young man stands up in the quiet church and starts singing a song.
“Going to the chapel, and we’re going to get married…”
The song they’ve chosen to sing is “Chapel of Love” released by the Dixie Cups in 1964. The person expresses how happy and excited they are to get married, and the song includes verses such as: “We’ll never be lonely anymore.”
Then a girl rises beside the original singer, her voice joining his to repeat the line.
As the song continues, teens from various rows start to stand up and contribute their portion to the acapella song.
Then, the view in the video suddenly shifts, and you see a woman pull open the church doors.
Young men with guitars flood the room, accompanying the singers with their chords.
The entire crowd is turned in their seats, observing the unexpected performance. But, fret not, the kids didn’t just crash this poor couple’s wedding. They were invited by Shannon, the bride, to perform as a surprise.
When the kids reach the end of the song, a young guitar player bows as the singers file out the pews and front door.
The performers in the video are from The Music Depot, a school of music and performance, in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada.
The school was founded by Jack Mitchell in 1966 after working in various other music stores and witnessing a lack of support for students and parents. Their website reads: “At the Music Depot, we have been helping music students become musicians for more than two decades.”
Mitchell and The Music Depot offer kids instruments, music lessons, concert classes, open jams, workshops, and more— all in an atmosphere of joy and encouragement as witnessed in the video.
“With our years of experience, there isn’t much we haven’t seen or been through ourselves, and we use that experience to help out our future musicians!”
So, when the bride approached the school with the idea of a wedding surprise, you can imagine they quickly jumped on board.
Since being uploaded to Rumble, the students’ beautiful, wedding performance has been viewed over half a million times.
