I don't think anyone saw that coming...

Last week, when the Varchetti family ordered a pepperoni pizza, they had no idea they’d soon be the audience of a mind-blowing piano performance.

Bryce Dudal is an 18-year-old delivery driver for Hungry Howie’s Pizza in Michigan.

And although he may look like your average delivery guy, he’s been hiding an incredible talent. Last week, when the Varchetti family ordered their pizza, Bryce was the driver assigned to the delivery. When he arrived at their house, however, something caught his eye.

When the family opened their door, Bryce spotted a baby grand piano in the foyer and asked if he could take a closer look.

“That’s a beautiful piano. Can I look at it?”

According to the Varchettis, the piano often goes unused, so they were happy when Bryce expressed interest. After the boy approached the piano, he asked if he could play. Although no one was expecting anything amazing, Bryce’s mind-blowing impromptu performance is now going viral. In a video uploaded to Facebook by Julie Varchetti, we get to see the amazing show for ourselves.

When Bryce sits at the family’s piano, he bursts into the third movement of Beethoven’s “Moonlight” sonata with unexpected skill.

As can be imagined, the family was completely blown away. In an interview with The Washington Post, Julie described Bryce’s performance, saying:

“He was just beyond good.”

In fact, Bryce was so good, that Ryan, the Varchettis’ 10-year-old son, even turned away from his video game to listen. “When he started playing I was surprised,” Ryan recalled. “I thought he was going to break the piano at first.”

According to Bryce, he’s been playing piano since he was 6 years old. He started on his family’s small keyboard and would practice on his aunt’s piano when he went over to her house. Throughout the years, he’s taught himself many tunes (including the Scooby-Doo theme song), but for some reason, Beethoven’s Moonlight sonata has always been one of his favorites.

“It’s a flashy, fast, amazing piece,” he said.

“A lot of people sit down at the piano and play something slow and beautiful.”

“But when I play for someone, I like to go all out.”

Bryce’s parents signed him up for music lessons, but the boy had trouble finding a teacher who fit his style. Most instructors were concerned with teaching him the basics, but Bryce just wanted to learn his favorite songs. When he was 12, he finally found a woman who taught him to read sheet music and how to fine-tune his selections. He studied alongside her for years, but as he grew older, his focus later shifted to baseball.

“Sports have taken over a little bit,” he said.

“I love working out every day in the gym.”

Bryce, who plays as a pitcher, won a scholarship for a local community college and will be starting classes this month. Despite his new focus on sports, however, he says the attention he’s gotten as a result of Julie’s video has reignited his passion for music.

Since being uploaded to Facebook last week, Julie’s video has been viewed over 665,000 times!

People are in awe of the teen’s natural talent and hope he continues pursuing music throughout his life.

“On the TV news in New Zealand tonight 01 August. Carnegie Hall next? What talent.”

“You could be playing concerts all over the world! Start lessons with a teacher… This is your GOD-given gift.”

“Innate artistic sensitibility! Blessed.”
