When teachers at the Sauk Rapids Rice High School in Minnesota took center stage to perform during a homecoming assembly, students didn’t know what they were about to witness. If anything, they probably figured they would be bored watching. However, that didn’t turn out to be the case.

These teachers really know how to dance. You have to see it to believe it.

The thought behind the music

The teachers needed the perfect music for their dance routine. They decided to go with a compilation of songs that represented the decades that they had graduated in.

The song choices

They started out on the right foot with We Will Rock You by Queen playing loudly through the auditorium speakers. They quickly moved through a series of tunes, including Def Leppard’s Pour Some Sugar on Me, Wannabe by the Spice Girls, Bye Bye Bye by NSYNC, and more as they moved closer to the current decade.

Every song was more of a crowd favorite than the last.

An amazing performance

Before the performance began, someone spoke on the loudspeaker and asked everyone to be completely silent so that the teachers could start their dance. It almost sounded serious.

The dancers started out standing still and spread out across the gym’s floor. They all wore matching gray and black. It was almost somber. However, when the music started, they sprung to life in unison.

They stomped, jumped, spun, and clapped along with the rhythm. As the music changed between genres, so did their dance style. They covered every one of their chosen decades with dance styles that were reminiscent of each. They switched flawlessly between each one like they were moving through the decades.

Their energy and enthusiasm were contagious. These teachers were up to the task of spanning the decades in style.

School spirit

It’s not just the teachers who can dance in this school. They have passed on their abilities to their students. You can see some of the same enthusiasm and skill in the Sauk Rapids Rice Dance Team. It seems that the entire school might know how to dance and bring a crowd to their feet!

We have to admit they had good teachers!

An astounding response

Because they had been asked to be quiet, the students were near silent at the beginning other than a few cheers for their favorite teachers. Then the music began, and everything changed. As the teachers bounced across the dancefloor in unison to the ever-changing music, they gained fans among the crowd.

The cheers became genuine, and the song choices were enough to get a real reaction. Students began singing along with the songs they recognized. They loudly applauded their favorite tunes and screamed when each song started.
