Hello music lovers my old friend

Here comes another “Sound of Silence” cover yet again

Please don’t groan and turn the other cheek

Because this is exactly what we need

And the lyrics this funny parody pounds into your brain

Becomes ingrained

So long as quarantine sounds like silence

Yup, you guessed it – there’s another “Sound of Silence” cover making the rounds on social media.

But, unlike all the other wannabe posers out there who are just trying to make a name for themselves, this hilarious cover is actually doing the world some good.

And that’s because this song is helping to cure everyone’s cabin fever with an injection of belly-busting laughter!

The Kiffness (aka David Scott), who calls Cape Town, South Africa his home, did what most YouTuber’s can only dream of – he somehow managed to go viral with his infectious (har har, see what I did there?) “Sound of Silence” lockdown parody.

And it’s no wonder why people are having giggle fits over this one!

We’re all waiting for the day when we can ditch the suffocating face masks and play Lady and the Tramp with a purple cabbage noodle.

Until that time comes, though, humorous lyrics like this help explain our quarantine angst:

“Will this lockdown never end?

I’ve got itchy feet again

Cabin fever got me creeping

Out the house while my wife’s sleeping

Made a decision that I’d probably make again

Couldn’t abstain

Sneaking out in silence”

All it took was a single sentence on The Kiffness’ YouTube channel for people to click, like, and fall in love with the silence all over again.

“A song for all those in lockdown with cabin fever.”

However, not everyone appreciates the updated lyrics.

As The Kiffness cheekily notes in the comments section, his wife (who is mentioned in the song) is probably the person responsible for downvoting the video on the group’s channel.

Laughter, as we all know, is pretty much the bomb when it comes to self-medicating ourselves.

So when someone with uber talent comes up with a unique twist on a pop culture favorite, it tends to strike a deep chord, especially for those of us who are looking for something other than drugs to escape from this dank COVDI-19 world of ours.

“And now I’m in the prison hall

The cop said you can make one call

It was the hardest choice of my life

Realized I had to phone my wife

Don’t think I had it in my heart to say the laundry’s still not done

I called no one

So I sat in my cell, in silence”

The song has scored close to a million views thus far, all without fanfare or advertising. In fact, The Kiffness didn’t even have the benefit of a big-name news publication touting just how fabulously funny he is.

Instead, the mysterious Algorithm Gods are the ones responsible for propelling this parody video to Internet Stardom!

It also probably helps that this guy is a totally adorable goofball.

The Kiffness, whose labels include Sony Music Entertainment Africa, mostly records tunes that fall under live electronic/house music genre, but he’s not a newbie to comedy.

He’s made over a dozen other lockdown parodies to date, including “Do You Believe in Life After Lockdown?” which is a Cher “Believe” parody, and “QuaranQueen,” a hairy-scary “Dancing Queen” knockoff.
