There are plenty of hardcore bands and musicians who don’t hesitate to put dark and grim imagery in their lyrics.

Still, there are also musicians who do it in a way you would never expect. As it turns out, the musicians in today’s story are a great example.

Poems and songs are some of the most creative ways to tell stories, as they can be interpreted in many ways.

Some musicians use literary techniques to write things that are genuinely mysterious and deceptive to the listeners.

Often, they write songs are mere fictional stories that sometimes relate to the real world.

However, there are also songwriters brave enough to tell their secrets, their life stories and other revelations. These artists can ignite a deep curiosity in the hearts of their listeners.

In the case of this particular bluegrass and folk band, they seem to have murder on their minds.

The Dead South is a folk and bluegrass band based in Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada.

They group was originally formed in 2012 as a quartet by cellist Danny Kenyon and one of the band’s vocalists. Through it all, their music is accompanied by catchy bluegrass rhythms played on cellos and banjos that arouse interest and provide a feast of great music.

This song may seem upbeat and fun, but it contains disturbing lyrics.

The song title’s “In Hell, I’ll Be In Good Company” is enough to give you the chills—and listeners should brace themselves for more. Kenyon, the band’s cellist, explained the meaning more fully:

“It’s about a man who murders his cheating wife and is super stoked to go to hell with her, and it sounds grim.”

Each stanza is poetic and well-written, but it’s pretty dark compared to most country and bluegrass.

The video shows nothing described in the lyrics.

Instead, the band members are shown snapping their fingers, dancing and moving from place to place while singing and doing the same routine. If you only focus on watching the music video and the upbeat music, the song’s meaning could easily slip out of your mind.
