Have you ever been moved to tears?

Some art can have that effect, but the potential loss of a loved one always sparks the waterworks.

Meet 12-year-old Shyon Clark of Victorville, California.

In a year marked by tragedy, he almost lost his dad to COVID.

You see, Shyon and his dad Johnnie Clark are a dynamic duo.

Not only are they an awesome Dad-Son combo, but they’re also piano partners!

They play together all the time on two adjacent keyboards.

Shyon truly loves his father to death. Johnnie isn’t just his dad.

They’re best friends.

Just look at them together. They’re two peas in a pod.

Since early 2020, the coronavirus has ravaged the United States.

The States have suffered from some of the worst COVID numbers across the globe, lagging far behind the rest of the “developed world.”

Unfortunately, COVID struck again.

Like countless Americans before him, Clark couldn’t avoid the contagion…

In September, Clark was sent to the hospital with coronavirus.

Needless to say, Shyon was devastated.

Full of worry, Shyon missed his dad. He more than missed him, actually.

Things didn’t look good for a while in there. Shyon struggled immensely in his father’s absence.

But with tremendous sorrow comes tremendous bouts of expression – just ask Beethoven.

Well, don’t ask him I guess. By the end of his life, he had gone deaf!

Turns out, Shyon is a wizard on the keys, just like Beethoven.

And despite the struggles of 2020, he kept playing.

Like Beethoven, Shyon’s been playing the piano since he was a toddler.

Before Dad’s hospitalization, Shyon and Johnnie were practically inseparable.

Now, Johnnie’s back in the house.

His recent battle with COVID has only brought them closer together.

While Johnnie was in the hospital, Shyon dedicated even more time to the piano.

Upon his Dad’s return home later that month, he was met with something special.

Shyon had prepared a new performance for his piano partner.

A day after returning, he began to serenade his dad with “Deliver Me” by Le’Andria Johnson.

Dad loves each and every note.

By the end of the performance, Shyon had broken out into tears.

All of the emotion came pouring out of him, through music and tears.

His Dad, moved to the core, lent him a comforting hand and an “I love you.”

Now that Dad’s back home, they have so much music to get to!

This is what unconditional love looks like!

Johnnie must be so proud of Shyon.

Shyon practices every day, but things weren’t as easy with his playing partner out of commission.

But Shyon did his best to keep his spirits up.

With or without Dad, the soul of music continued through the lone Shyon!

And turns out, Dad’s a wizard on the keys, too!

Is that Johnnie Clark or Mozart?

With Dad back at home, they’re inseparable, yet again.

As it should be.

Together, they’re a piano force to be reckoned with!

Fortunately, Shyon and Johnnie’s story has a happy ending.

But hundreds of thousands have lost their lives to COVID this year in the United States alone.

So stay healthy during this holiday season!

If you’re at a large family gathering, try to maintain some semblance of distance and wear masks when you get the chance, especially in public.

This pandemic is far from over, and the vaccine is going to take months to roll out!
