Ice skaters are so fun to watch. And as far as music goes, it’s hard to beat songs by Michael Bublé. So, when you have a skater’s pair who gives an outstanding performance to L.O.V.E. you get the best of both worlds. That’s what happened in 2019 at a major ice-skating competition.

FD US Nationals

Last year, Oona Brown and Gage Brown put on a show that left the audience stunned. Although there are a lot of fantastic skaters, this duo has something special. They’re not just talented but also perfectly in sync with one another. Even as they entered the rink and prepared to start their routine, the crowd was already cheering.

Starting position

After taking a quick lap around the rink, they made their way to the center of the ice. Oona was dressed in a beautiful blue costume complete with sparkly rhinestones. Gage looked sharp wearing black slacks and a long-sleeved black shirt.

More than just partners

As you can see, these skaters share the same last name of Brown. They’re a brother and sister duo. As stated in a recent interview, Oona explained that their mom is their biggest inspiration. Yes, they’re incredibly gifted but this kind of explains why they skate in perfect unison.

Ready to perform

At the FD US Nationals, Oona and Gage stood still, waiting for Michael Buble’s song L.O.V.E. to start. Right on cue, the pair raised their arms, followed by making a sweeping motion. Immediately, they began the routine

Their first big move

For a few seconds, the duo skated side by side and then held hands while doing a turn. But without any effort, Gage lifts his sister. The move was graceful and beautiful. They both made it all seem so easy.

Flawless transition

That alone was impressive but not nearly as much as what they did next. Rather than gently set Oona back on the ice, Gage turned her around so they were both facing forward. She then placed her skates on his squatted knees as they glided beautifully as one.

There’s a hush over the audience

To execute a move like that, not only did this skating pair have to trust each other but also maintain perfect balance. This probably wasn’t anything the crowd had ever seen before. Everyone was so quiet as they watched in complete awe.

Worth it all

The years of practice, lessons, and even mishaps were all worth it for this one performance. We’re sure the couple is even better today but at this 2019 competition, everything they’d worked so hard for was front and center. The number was breathtaking.

Fantastic choreography

Throughout the routine, Oona and Gage continued to surprise both the judges and the audience members. At one point, he did a series of spins flawlessly. Shortly after, it was Oona’s turn. She too did several spins before the two joined each other hand in hand.

Four and a half minutes of pure bliss

That’s the amount of time the crowd remained mesmerized. Whether skating around the rink or executing an extremely difficult move, this pair didn’t disappoint. Clearly, they’ve worked hard to hone their skill. And for that reason, they gave a seamless performance from start to finish.
