North Dakota’s sweethearts Tigirlily have officially moved to Nashville.
So, we figured we’d reminisce about all that they’ve accomplished thus far in their young lives.
Sisters Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh are fairly well-known throughout their hometown of North Dakota. They grew up singing in their church choir, and their music career blossomed from there. In their short lifetimes, the pair has already received American Patriot plaques for their support of soldiers and veterans and have won numerous North Dakota Music Awards.
Their group Tigirlily (a clever play on the words ‘tiger lily’) has become incredibly popular online. Fox West Dakota elaborates: “Tigirlily just released their ‘Wild Creatures’ EP. It hit #14 on the iTunes Country charts. They’ve recorded four EPs, are followed by 160,000 people on social media, [and have] produced eleven music videos.” So, in short, they’re doing pretty well.
By all accounts, however, Kendra and Krista have not lost track of their humble beginnings. They made headlines this past year for their volunteer work at the local community kitchen, happily serving scoops of food to the hungry people in line.
As mentioned, they’ve also been rewarded American Patriot plaques, and Krista has even starred in a local PSA, educating fellow North Dakotans on the importance of wearing a seatbelt. At the time of the PSA, younger sister Krista had recently been involved in a traumatic car accident— her seatbelt being the only thing that saved her life.
In the video, she says: “That two seconds of buckling up really saved my family a lot of heartache and also allowed me the opportunity to keep pursuing my dreams.”
The young women have spent the majority of their lives performing in front of others and growing up in the spotlight. Now, however, in the wake of Krista’s high school graduation, the pair are leaving North Dakota and heading to the big leagues of Nashville. Their mother, Brenda Slaubaugh, told Fox West Dakota: “I think they are very grounded and ready to go on a new adventure. Coming from a small town, small state, I know they’ll do OK no matter where they go.”
Still, however, the kindhearted, angelic duo will be greatly missed by their home state they’ve always been so fond of. In honor of Krista’s graduation and Tigirlily’s big move into the city, we figured we’d share one of our favorite Tigirlily performances: their spellbinding rendition of the classic hymn “Amazing Grace”.
We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
