One of the best things about watching things live is you’ll never know what you’ll get.

Hundreds of thousands of fans gathered at the Neyland Stadium in Knoxville Tennessee as the UT Volunteers faced off against the Kentucky Wildcats.

They were in for more than a game.

The crowd cheered and roared as the two teams tried to outplay one another.

And in the midst of a tough fight, the audience didn’t know that they were in for a surprise.

Just in front of the stands, the dancers from the University of Texas cheer team hyped the crowd.

The dancers showed off their best moves while a security guy stood close to the formation.

Then, as the routine went on, the inevitable happened.

Collision ahead?

At that point in the routine, a dancer collided with the oblivious security personnel which ruined the dance.

The cheerleader stormed off and complained to one of the staff.

The staff then went up to the security personnel’s space and badgered him to get out of the way.

The audience was stunned.

Things had taken an unexpected turn and they didn’t know if it was about to get crazier.

The security personnel nudged off the staff member then took a step back.

He suspiciously positioned himself in the middle of the dance formation.

He had moves of his own.

Then, as another beat passed, the security man danced the routine.

The audience roared at the surprise and the security man did the dance moves so well that he looked like he was part of the team.

Unbeknownst to many, this was Michael Galyean’s dream.

Gaylean knew the steps by heart.

This was because this was all part of a ruse to energize the crowd.

Gaylean shared in an Instagram post that he was approached by the Spirit Program At UT and explained that “they wanted to do a bit.”

Gaylean then shared that when he was accepted into the University of Tennessee, he promised himself that he would cheer with the team.

“Well, the insecure and frail freshman me never tried out for the team and I’ve always regret not fulfilling my childhood dream.” He admitted in an Instagram post.

Fate had other plans, however, and his childhood dream got a new spark when he received a call from his longtime friend and the dance team’s coach.

Gaylean admitted that despite being “super ready”, the ruse made him anxious too.

“In my head, I was going, ‘What am I doing? Are my knees going to break? Am I too old for this? They’re going to hate me,'” Gaylean, who was already 40 years old at that time, shared with TODAY.

Gaylean couldn’t have been more wrong.

Then, he said that by the time the first count hit, his body just followed his heart.

He pumped his chest and flicked his shoulder.

He even rounded his hips together with the cheer team.

He nailed every move with swagger.

As the crowd roared, he thought that they were doing it for the team.

He then realized that the two Jumbotrons were showing off the “security personnel’s” dance moves.

Gaylean and the team went viral.

The video, which was first shared via the team’s TikTok garnered over 16 million views.

It became so popular that Gaylean had to change his Instagram bio to, “Yes, I’m the Blue Shirt Guy, blocking a dance team near you!”

It might just be a gimmick for some, but for Gaylean, it was reconnecting with his childhood dreams.
