What is the World Skate Games? And what is artistic skating?

The World Skate Games provides an avenue for young athletes and performers on wheels.

The sports on wheels that are featured in competition at the World Skate Games include Skateboarding, Rink Hockey, Inline Hockey, Speed Skating, Inline Alpine, Downhill, Roller Derby, Roller Freestyle, Inline Freestyle, and Scooter. It took the Federation a long time to get to this point, where these young athletes can compete in the Olympics because of their chosen sport on wheels.

What about artistic skating? What is it about?

“Artistic roller skating is a fun, safe, and beautiful sport that is active worldwide. There are four disciplines, free skating, dance skating, precision skating, and figure skating,” the Gujarat State Roller Skating Association explained.

Sincro Roller from Italy is part of the show group. They’re required to have a themed performance plus a storyline for their performance to show the audience and the judges. Was Sincro Roller successful in this aspect?

In the World Skate Games, Sincro Roller performed in the Senior Precision Category.

“In Senior Precision there are eight required technical elements that the teams are scored upon along with the four Components of Skating Skills, Transitions, Choreography and Performance. The teams are made up of 16 skaters and move as a unit to perform precision formations and very difficult elements,” the World Skate Games explained.

Wow, that’s tough and a lot of pressure on the dancers. And they’re up against the best artistic roller skaters in the world!

How will they do in the World Skate Games?

Wearing rainbow-themed costumes with different-colored arm sleeves, the 16 dancers of Sincro Roller skated to the middle of the rink to start their performance. Skating in sync, they skated to the middle and grouped themselves in a huddle.

This is going to be exciting!

They started off skating in a circle as a group, showing off their colors. Then they broke off into smaller groups and then skating off by themselves. It’s confusing but it all makes sense when the song begins. Together with all their colors, we recognize those are rainbow colors. But apart, they’re just individual colors with any symbolism.

Then the song starts and they join each other as a group again and it made so much sense.

And every move they made after that showed the connection they have with each other and with each color. They may break off at some point but they will always come back to each other. The crowds cheered them on with every complicated dance move the Rollers nailed.

In the end, their hard work paid off and the Sincro Rollers bagged third place in the Senior Precision category with a score of 61.30 points.
