“Dream On” must be one of the most popular power ballads out there.

In Tyler’s words, the song is about “the hunger to be somebody.” The Aerosmith frontman once famously said: “Dream until your dreams come true.” We surely agree, and it’s nice to see the band’s performance of their hit song with children’s chorus.

Is there a better way for children to pick up such an important life lesson? We think not.

It’s hard to believe that Steven Tyler wrote the song when he was only 17 years old.

Aerosmith is an American rock band formed in Boston in 1970.

Steven Tyler rose to prominence as the lead singer of the band, and he’s famous for his wide vocal range and energetic live performances. He’s included among Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Singers as well. Tyler wrote “Dream On” before the band even existed, and the song became one of the band’s signature songs. It’s safe to say that Steven has been dreaming ever since, as he’s accomplished quite an impressive career.

“It was just little thing I was playing, and I never dreamed it would end up as a real song,” Steven said.

Little did he know that he was about to create a masterpiece that would end up on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Maybe you’ll be surprised to know that Tyler’s father was a Julliard-trained musician.

The famous singer loved to spend time under his dad’s piano.

What a lovely way for a creative process to take off!

“Dream On” has already been played with an orchestra several times.

The song became Aerosmith’s concert staple, and it turned out that sounds delightful when accompanied by the orchestra.

Such an occasion was the 1991 live performance for MTV’s 10th anniversary. Michal Kamen conducted the show and Tyler played the piano.

Here we can see a similar thing—Tyler tackles the ivories and Joe Perry plays the electric guitar.

Southern California Children’s Chorus is what makes the video special. The whole show is dedicated to the victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. Throughout the video, you’ll see supporters holding signs that say “stay strong.”

It’s heartbreaking to know that numerous young people required amputations after the tragic incident happened.

Regardless of all the grief, people found the strength to stand up and keep going—and that’s what counts the most.

One of the most stunning rock songs ever written sounds even better through these angelic voices!

A piano, an electric guitar and a children’s chorus—what more do you need for a great tribute?

And Steven Tyler still hits the high notes as impressively as ever. His voice blends perfectly with all the children’s vocals, and the results will bring tears to your eyes.

We wish that the senseless attack never happened at all, but these children prove that you can’t kill faith, courage and strength.

The scream at the end is just amazing—it’s Steven Tyler at his best.

No lyrics have ever hit harder than the last part of the song.

It’s true, and yet we all need to cherish life and celebrate all the possibilities we’ve been given by the simple fact of being alive. We’re guessing that all 42 million YouTube viewers felt the same. There’s a reason why Aerosmith’s live shows are praised, and the video explains it quite well.
