Comedians tend to make routines centered around making fun of themselves.

Because, if there is going to be a joke made about you, it is better to make it yourself before anyone else can, right?

For successful comedians, this is a hilarious bit that everyone can relate to. But not ever comedian can nail this effortlessly.

That isn’t a problem for Samuel J. Comroe!

For Samuel, his situation is a little different than most comedians. Samuel has Tourette syndrome.

When he first took the America’s Got Talent stage, Howie Mandel thought that his twitching eyes meant that he was nervous.

Samuel might have been nervous, but his eyes were not twitching because of that!

As many people know, Tourette syndrome (also known as Tourette’s) is characterized by unwanted and repetitive movements and sounds. They can come in many forms as nervous ticks or repeated words.

For Samuel, it is his twitching eyes and floppy hair. He has no problem making fun of his condition, as a way to make light of it.

He told the judges:

“I twitch a lot, I blink really fast, my hair flops around. If you see that, it’s kind of cute.”

Heidi Klum agreed, she did think his hair flopping was cute!

For Samuel, coming onto America’s Got Talent to bring light to his syndrome was a huge moment for him. He told Howie:

“This means everything. I’ve worked my entire life for a moment like this. They don’t come often very often. I’m really grateful. I just had a baby girl and this is a beautiful opportunity.”

For the last 10 years, Samuel has worked as a stand-up comedian and his family has supported him 100% through it all.

During his routine, Samuel focused entirely on his condition and he did it incredibly, between his gestures and punctuation of each joke.

But the best part about his entire stand-up routine was when he talked about the time that his parents sent him to Tourette’s camp. To watch his entire stand-up routine, you can check out the video below.

America’s Got Talent’s shared the video on Facebook and it has gotten 2 million views, 33,000 likes, and 13,000 shares.

One Facebook user related to Samuel on a deep level and said:

I too have Tourettes. Diagnosed at 11 years old. But it doesn’t have me, and it doesn’t have him either. Cheers to him! So funny! On the days when it’s hardest, i’ll remember this

While one parent commended Samuel for his positive outlook:

My son is 10 year old has Tourettes. School days are the most difficult. His anxiety and headaches get the best of him most days. This was absolutely amazing. Pulls on my heart strings too! My son and I cried laughing at this act! His positive outlook on helping others cope with understanding & support is wonderful!

What did you think of Samuel’s stand up routine? I think he was hilarious and I cannot wait to see more of him this season.
