Impromptu

One shopper said, “It was impromptu. The Holy Spirit just showed up in a mighty way. In this time when people can’t get along for various reasons, we were all together. We were just singing praises to God.”

Some believe praying to God is seen as a holy act and should only be done in sacred places like the church.

Others, believe that you can worship anytime and anywhere, as long as your heart feels it.

In the city of Dothan, Alabama, Slade Alday, his wife Danielle, and Joy Buczek, a member of their group, ate at Cheddar’s restaurant in the area.

Then, they all went shopping.

The trio went to Sam’s Club

They were just there to look around when something caught their attention.

“When we were walking around, we turned the corner and there were these keyboards,” Alday said in an interview with Christian Index. “Like any curious musician, Buczek wanted to mess around with them and started playing some songs.

Alday had served as worship pastor at Fellowship Baptist Church in Brinson.

He is also a worship leader for the Bowen Baptist Association, and also one of the active members of Sons of Jubal, which is a statewide Georgia Baptist chorus that was created solely for worship leaders like Alday.

Alday, who was wearing a black shirt was seen with Buczek, the lady who was playing the piano.

She played “Our God is Awesome” on the keyboard on display, while Alday was singing.

They had everyone’s attention.

In a viral video that was posted by Michelle Holland Conner, we see Alday, Buczek, and many people singing the worship song.

Her video alone garnered over 15M views.

But there were many people recording the impromptu event on their phones, so there’s no telling how far and wide these videos have spread.

Before Michelle started recording, the trio had already sung many worship songs.

They first sang “Total Praise,” then “My Life is in Your Hands,” and “Every Praise,” before singing “My God is Awesome.”

The trio had been worshiping for more than 10 to 15 minutes before they realized that they were surrounded by people.

Many people may ask, what prompted them to sing inside Sams’s Club?

“It was impromptu,” remembered Alday. “The Holy Spirit just showed up in a mighty way. In this time when people can’t get along for various reasons, we were all together. We were just singing praises to God.”

God moves in mighty ways.

The sudden break out of worship hadn’t been intentional, but it was clearly meant to be.

It was as if the holy spirit guided them to the keyboard Himself, with a very specific purpose.

While singing, Alday heard people saying “Amen.”

He opened his eyes, and he was stunned.

There were people around them, and they had their hands raised, eyes closed, and some were even crying.

They were no longer just singing in a Sam’s Club. They were inadvertently leading from within the midst of a worship service.

Then it dawned on him.

God’s grace was reigning over them.

From going to Sam’s to seeing the keyboard, God wanted them to worship at Sam’s Club.

The holy spirit that guided them knew there were people there who needed to hear these beautiful worship songs and, true enough, the beauty of God’s songs touched many people.

They all felt it.

People also noticed that one Sam’s Club employee, named Christian Melton, joined the group of people singing.

According to Alday, the entire experience was beyond beautiful, and it reminded him of the Bible verse, John 12:32.

“Jesus said, ‘If I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me,’” Alday shared. “In that little bit of time, the gospel was proclaimed around the world.

No matter where you are, or what you are doing, you can worship God and it will always be worthwhile.
