Retired 80-yr-olds recreate Taylor Swift video in the funniest way
I've never smiled so much watching a video - so cute!

It’s impossible to escape Taylor on the news lately. The fact that I don’t need to say which Taylor is proof enough of that.

But Taylor Swift’s sudden inescapable presence on the news isn’t surprising.

She’s been in the music game since day 1, and had enough albums to culminate into what she is now.

Remember “Shake It Off?” That song came out 9 years ago. It’s hard to believe it.

Feels like it wasn’t that long ago 10-year-old me heard “You Belong With Me” on the radio.

When “Shake it Off” released in 2014, it spawned a wave of parody dance covers.

The 1989 album’s pop-vibe was a huge departure from Swift’s past music.

Even RED was a bit country-pop-like, though you could hear hints of her experimenting in there.

One retirement home in New Zealand decided to make a cute little parody of Swift’s music video for “Shake It Off.”

Complete with the tutus and every other outfit Swift and her backup dancers wore.

“Shake It Off” has some pretty easy-to-remembers.

“Haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate” is one heck of an earworm, whether you like the song or not.

And honestly, it’s pretty fitting here.

At 80-years-old, all you care about is living happily in retirement.

Enjoy life to its fullest, even though your hips might not let you “shake, shake, shake, shake” too much anymore.

On the “80odd yearsofhappy” YouTube channel, they explain:

“Fifty residents, staff and grandchildren from Julia Wallace Retirement Village spent a week making this special tribute to Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off. With an average of 82 and a combined of more than 4,000 years, these retirees proved you’re never too old to Shake It Off and have loads of fun.”

For the futuristic segment, grandpa here shows how much spring and wiggle he’s still got in his limbs at his age.

I bet he was overjoyed when his part came on, and he got to show that off.

And for what would normally be the twerking segment, we instead get a hilarious scene with the lead granny and some walkers in the back.

I mean, were you really expecting them throw it back? At their age?

Our lead lady takes the center once again, and dons a long-sleeved turtleneck just like the one Taylor wore in the video.

There’s truly no bounds to being a Swiftie it seems.

Toddlers and retirement age folks seem to adore Taylor just as much as her younger, teenage fans.

The elders in this video sometimes need the magic of editing to do some of the more acrobatic stuff.

With a green screen and someone who knows their way around software, even an 80-year-old can do a front flip.

Oh, and remember when I said not to expect any twerking from people this age? Turns out I was wrong.

Yeah, turns out they’ve got a bit of wiggle left in their hips too.

And just to make the video even cuter, they brought in some younger girls to back them up too.

This taught us two things: that you’re never too old to be a little carefree, and that Taylor Swift seems to transcend generational gaps.
