None of us have ever lived through a world pandemic before, and we’re all perfectly entitled to feel upset and worried in these current uncertain times. But what’s for certain is that we’d all be a lot more miserable right now if it weren’t for the talented individuals making light of our global catastrophe.

We’re talking, of course, about the singers, performers, and even ordinary people who have used their quarantine time to produce some absolute classic COVID tunes that will probably, along with the virus, go down in history.

We’ve heard songs about running out of toilet roll, working from home, washing our hands and cancelling vacations, and all of them are equally brilliant. But one of the latest COVID songs is particularly special, because it has been written and produced by a school principal.

Let us introduce you to Dr. Quentin Lee’s “U Can’t Touch This” parody, corona-style.

The idea behind the parody is simple yet effective. The phrase “you can’t touch this”, which is repeated more than 25 times throughout the song, is used by Dr. Lee in his music video to demonstrate exactly which items in his school his students can’t touch.

The song begins with a desk plaque bearing Dr. Lee’s name, and then Dr. Lee himself spins around in his chair, wearing a mask and holding the new COVID essentials: a bottle of hand sanitizer and a temperature gun.

As the video progresses, Dr. Lee appears in multiple shots of students trying to drink from the water fountain, scan their papers, and get too close to his desk, telling them, as the song goes, “You can’t touch this”.

The best part about the principal’s parody is his made up rap segment. Not only are the lyrics pretty hilarious, documenting his struggles to find Lysol, his fears that a student might cough or sneeze, and his attempts to keep everyone six feet apart with a tape measure, Dr. Lee also shows off some pretty impressive dad dancing and rapper posing.

If you need a break from the stressful reality of COVID, Dr. Lee’s video will have you cracking up in no time. The principal of Alabama’s Childersburg High School certainly knows that humor is a great way to cope with a stressful situation, and his parody is one of the best we’ve seen so far.

Dr. Lee wrote the parody himself, including some of our personal favorite lyrics:

“I told you students/ You better pull that mask up!/ It’s the CDC, not me!” and “Let’s all be safe go wash your hands/ So move, back up 6 ft. You better not cough and you better not sneeze/ Sanitation! Hold on, lemme check your temp – not under your arm!”

Speaking to Alabama News Center, Dr. Lee said that it took him just 15 minutes to produce his masterpiece from start to finish, and he knew immediately that this was too special to hide in his office drawer.

So he did what anyone would do: called on a film crew to record the tune and enlisted in the help of a few voluntary students and teachers for the music video.

The result sees Dr. Lee dad-dancing his way around the school, shouting at kids and looking generally stressed out. In the most humorous way possible, of course.

Did Dr. Lee quite earn the title as the next MC Hammer? The response to his video certainly suggests so. He’s racked up hundreds of thousands of combined views across YouTube, and has undoubtedly become something of a legend at his school.
