The purpose of a pep rally or pep assembly is to raise school spirit and show support for team members.

That’s how this school principal sends the gymnasium, as well as the online world into upheaval, as she joins the step team for an epic performance.

A principal from Lake Mary High School in Florida, United States left her students a bit astonished.

Dr. Mickey Reynolds graduated from the school in 1986 and was able to engage in the dance during her time there. Her connection to the school doesn’t stop there — her father served as the school’s first principal.

Reynolds approached the team’s mentor, Kelly Lupis, with the possibility of performing with the team.

Kelly agreed, thinking it was a brilliant idea. The coach, on the other hand, did not want the school principal to simply come in and perform a few tasks.

“I wasn’t thinking they’d have me doing half the darn routine. I’m getting a little old for this,” she told to ABC News.

Each of them was obviously enthralled by the show.

You would see that they put a lot of time and effort into perfecting their routine, as shown by how well they delivered their performance.

When Reynolds began to stomp and dance, the gymnasium burst with screams, roars, and applause.

She actually did wear the team’s uniform. Honestly, the iconic camouflage pants and team shirt looked fantastic on her.

What is Stepping?

According to Step Afrika,

“Stepping is a percussive, highly-energetic art form first developed through the song and dance rituals performed by African-American fraternities and sororities. In stepping, the body becomes an instrument, using footsteps, claps and spoken word to produce complex poly-rhythms. Stepping has been described as one of the most exciting dance forms created in the 21st century.”

Someone commented that:

“I Absolutely loved it! Way to show some school spirit and the express to the students that anybody can do anything if they put forth the effort and practice 😊! So if their principal can do THAT, they CAN do physics, algebra, biology etc! Amazing role model!!!”

Becky Godwin, the parent who attended the pep rally and posted the video, shared her thoughts:

“When she walked out onto the floor, you could literally feel the oxygen leave the room. It was just the most amazing decibel of noise I’ve ever heard and I’ve been to every pep rally. I’ve never heard the students lose their minds like this.”

You can see her awesome surprise production with the team in the video below!
