There are certain musical artists that have a gift for singing Christmas tunes – and YouTube star, Peter Hollens, is one of them. He’s recreated some of our favorite classics over the years, including “Mary, Did You Know?” – a song that produces goosebumps on its own.

Hollens’ a cappella cover takes place in a church where he’s sitting by himself. But get ready for a special twist that leads the rendition to get better and better as it goes on.

It’s a haunting version of “Mary, Did You Know?” you don’t want to miss!

The holiday season is busy from Thanksgiving all the way to New Year’s Day – full shopping and festivities. Really, there isn’t a dull moment is there?

Sometimes though, it’s the simple things about “the most wonderful time of the year” that are most impactful. During the season, we get to spend time with our loved ones, and for many, it’s also a time to appreciate what Christmas is all about.

“Mary, Did You Know?” helps remind listeners of the holiday’s origin, with lyrics about the birth of Jesus Christ.

In the video, Hollens begins singing these powerful lyrics in an empty church. But just a few moments later another singer walks in…

Just when you think that Peter Hollens’ voice couldn’t be any more captivating, suddenly there are two.

The pair of Hollens harmonize creating a heavenly sound that’s very fitting for the location. Yet, if you haven’t guessed, there’s a lot more room on the pew. A third singer silently approaches the duo and takes a seat, before joining in as well.

Peter Hollens has a popular YouTube channel where he explains, “Everything you’re about to hear is made by the human voice and mouth.”

The vocalist specializes in the art of a cappella and has covered many classic songs in the style.

As Hollen’s rendition closes in on the one-minute mark, another two singers join the others on the pew.

They become a musical ensemble with the ability to lift your soul like a choir of angels. Eventually, the sixth Hollens joins and their group is complete.

While the song is chilling and beautifully done, the video work is impressive too.

It took approximately 100 hours for the project to be completed (all the way from the concept to the final editing), and multiple takes were required.

Another one of the artist’s Christmas videos also features more than one “Hollens.” During his cover of “Carol of the Bells,” he sings with other “clones” of himself as well. But that’s before he’s joined by hundreds of others!

His rendition of “Mary, Did You Know” has been watched more than 6.6 million times on YouTube alone for good reason. A woman named Megan commented:

“This is one of my favorite Christmas songs, but it has never brought me to tears…until now. It is absolutely incredible. You did an amazing job. Thank you for blessing us with this!”
