A capella pop group Pentatonix is back with another rendition of a beloved classic.
This time, the super talented group covers Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion’s “The Prayer”. Around the world, it is the exquisite classical crossover duet so loved by many that it’s been covered by so many artists.
It was never intended to be a duet.
The song was recorded in two versions for the movie Quest for Camelot. One in English by Celine Dion, and in Italian by Andrea Bocelli.
“The Prayer” won a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, as well as being nominated for an Academy Award (1999) for Best Original Song and a Grammy Award (2000).
But it’s that incredible duet by Bocelli and Dion that skyrocketed the song to its status as perhaps the best duet ever recorded.
This time, there’s a new version. And I suspect you’ll love it just the same.
Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee sing the iconic lyrics. Words that seem to request for guidance, light, and compassion. It’s definitely spiritual.
