Who doesn’t love an early Christmas present? Just recently, Pentatonix fans were gifted one from the group – who came out with a soul-warming version of “God Only Knows” in celebration of the upcoming holiday season.

You know good times are around the corner when holiday decorations fill the stores and Pentatonix music is playing. Fortunately, we’ve been given a little taste of what’s to come with their newest cover.
“God Only Knows” is a song that’s touched hearts since it was released in 1966 by The Beach Boys. In fact, it even sits as number 25 on Rolling Stone‘s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” list.
But leave it to Pentatonix to put a holiday spin on the classic.
Pentatonix is an award-winning musical ensemble that first took the world by storm back in 2011.
The five-member a cappella group competed on the reality show, The Sing-Off, where they delighted viewers with their sound. Eventually, they took home the champion prize and earned a spot in the music industry.
They’ve sold over 6.5 million records and have performed concerts all around the world for their large fan base. Pentatonix even has more than 17.5 million subscribers on YouTube, where they post uplifting videos, including a variety of Christmas covers.
With the release of their album The Best of Pentatonix Christmas and also their Christmas Tour, it seems like the perfect time for a new video too!
The group does not disappoint with their rendition of “God Only Knows,” which feels comparable to putting on a warm sweater. It takes place at the airport, a location that many of us will soon frequent because of the holiday season.
All of the members are dressed in their cold-weather gear as they beautifully belt out the song.
Mixed with falling snow, twinkling lights, decor, and the strong bonds of friendship – it’s no wonder their rendition is spreading cheer (and chills).
In the video, Scott is being dropped off at the airport by Mitch, Kirstin, Kevin, and the newest addition to Pentatonix, Matt. There are heartfelt goodbyes before Scott heads off on his flight.
“God Only Knows” may have never been part of your Christmas music collection before. However, Pentatonix’s take on the song, done in their signature a cappella style – might make it one of your new holiday favorites.
In just a few days of the video being released, it’s been viewed more than 600,000 times and has received over 42,000 thumbs-ups. Some people even see a connection to the movie, Love Actually.
