“Amazing Grace” is one of the most beloved songs throughout the world. The original “Amazing Grace” was written in 1779 and its words are just as moving and profound today as they were over 200 years ago. The Library of Congress has a collection of over 3,000 different recordings of the song. It would seem with thousands of bands and artists performing the classic hymn that it would be hard to make your own version stand out. This is not true for the Nordic Tenors.

Each member of the group gets a solo part during the hymn that showcases their individual voices. All of their voices are beautiful and can sing straight to your heart. Yet, it is during their harmonies where the hymn really shines above other renditions. Øystein’s accompaniment on the piano speeds the pace of the hymn at times. This is very unique to “Amazing Grace,” as it is usually performed very slowly.

The piano might have a faster pace but the Nordic Tenors never change their own singing pace.

That saved a wretch like me
