Britain’s Got Talent is a show known across the globe, with 16 seasons so far it is the longest-running “Got Talent” show out there.
There have been hundreds of performers to grace the stage in an attempt to win over both the crowd and the judges.
For one group of school girls, their performance brought tears to everyone’s eyes.
The Angelicus Celtis all-girls choir, made up of 17 young girls aged 12-17, traveled all the way from South Wales in order to perform for the judges.
The group walked onto the stage and Alesha immediately knew they were part of a choir.
When asked whether they thought they could win, Holly, the young spokeswoman for the group, sweetly said that they will try their best.
This response got an ‘aww’ from the audience at how earnestly, and truthfully, the question was answered.
After a bit more back and forth between Holly and the judges, the girl was asked about their inspiration.
“Our inspiration is our teacher, Mr. Williams,” Holly said, “he’s our hero.”
Again, the audience showed their approval of the answer with an even louder ‘aww’ that was continued into the girl’s explanation about the man.
“He brings out the best in all of us,” she said, before going on to explain that he had had a tough year after getting into a very bad car accident.
“He was badly injured,” she said, as the camera panned to show the man whom she was talking about,
“but he fought to be back for us and to make Angelicus happen.”
That comment got a lot of hoots and hollers from the audience as they clapped for the man’s recovery.
After a little bit more back and forth between Holly and the judges, it was time for the performance.
The girls separated out and got into positions, some standing in small groups and some alone.
As soon as the music started everyone knew what the song would be as it is often performed on the show to showcase the talent of the different singers.
The song the girls chose to sing was most famously sung by the tenor opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, it is the breathtaking ‘Nessun Dorma’.
One of the older girls in the group took the lead of the song and was absolutely amazing, her strong voice ringing out to the rafters.
While quite a bit of the song was just showcasing her talent, there were multiple times when the rest of the girls joined in with harmonies.
Alone, the girls were very good, but as part of the ensemble, when all 17 members of the group sang together, magic happened.
Their voices blended perfectly and flowed together in a strong yet soothing way.
They finished their performance and, as the camera panned across the audience, multiple people were shown wiping tears out of their eyes as everyone gave a standing ovation.
The girls grouped together again at the front of the stage awaiting the responses from the judges.
“I want to say something,” Simon began, “and I’ve heard this song a lot… This was, in my opinion, the most beautiful and incredible version.”
All the judges agreed, and the group received 4 definite yeses; this feedback obviously meant a lot to the girls as some of them were seen wiping tears from their own eyes.
Before the choir was dismissed back into the wings, Simon requested that their wonderful teacher, Mr. Williams, come to the stage as well.
With the help of one of his companions, the man made his way to the stage to the sounds of another standing ovation.
The pride he felt for the girls, and that the girls felt for him, was obvious.
Now it is time for Mr. Williams and his incredible choir to prepare another performance to wow the judges with.
