American Idol just had their Disney night and it was truly magical!
It seems that just about every reality competition show manages to work Disney into the schedule somehow. Can we really blame them, Disney is the best.
I might be biased, as an avid Disney lover and ‘90s baby, but Michael J. Woodard totally stole the show in my opinion.
For the themed night, he sang the theme song to Beauty and the Beast, “Tale as Old as Time.” He certainly didn’t sound like Angela Lansbury while singing it, but that is a good thing.
The video was also shared on American Idol’s Facebook page and people absolutely love Michael.
One commenter cried after the performance:
Michael you are the light of this competition. You are the only one tonight that touched my heart so deep that you brought me to tears. I’m am pulling for you. Luke is right! You are Magical.
While another prayed that Michael wouldn’t disappear, even if he didn’t win:
If he does not win I sure hope he does not disappear. we need singer’s like him. and people like him. kind heart
Lionel Richie was the first to comment after Michael’s performance and he used his favorite nickname for talented singers that are also unique.
In case you didn’t know, to Lionel Richie, martian is never an insult, it is always a compliment.
“Let me say this to you, my little martian, my little martian I’m going to keep it very short. I love you so much, we love you so much, they love you so much.”
The audience roared in agreement after Lionel gestured toward them. Clearly, they didn’t mind the legendary singer speaking for them.
After Lionel, Katy Perry (dress in a Snow White costume, it is Disney night after all) had to sing her praises for Michael.
“My angel. I love you so much. You really make my heart smile. And for me, you kind of fight in between a Michael Jackson and a Frank Ocean.”
Michael was pretty much flabbergasted by Katy’s praise, which he seemed to think was too high, but seeing as Katy is an international pop star, we’ll take her word.
Basically, Michael was in just for compliment after compliment for this performance.
Judge Luke Bryan also had nothing but positive things to say to the singer, he even compared him to Walt Disney!
“Like Disney, you are magical my friend. And you’ve been that way since the first time we saw you walk in. It is infectious, just be you.”
This performance worked in Michael’s favor, as he was able to make it to the next round of the competition and is officially part of the Top 7 on American Idol.
Are you excited to see what he will sing next? There are only a few weeks left of American Idol, we can only hope Michael makes it all the way to the end.
If he keeps singing like this, I have no doubt that he will be in the end game.
Please SHARE this with your friends and family.

He’s been a fan favorite pretty much since his first audition when he sang “Make It Rain” by Ed Sheeran.
Michael’s audition got off to a little bit of a shaky start, but once he started over, the judges were instantly smitten with him.
