When a grandparent gets involved in their grandchildren’s hobbies, it’s a special moment for everyone
The benefits go both ways from old to young and back again. The grandparent can feel connected to the next generation of their family in a special way. While the grandchild feels love and support from someone who isn’t a direct relative, which can feel all the more wonderful.
But really, is it a surprise since some grandparents are fond of saying that:
“my child’s child is twice my child”
Well that must be how this grandfather feels when he joined his granddaughter at a dance show
This little girl is Maeve Jones from Massachusetts. She was only 10-years-old during this video and was joined by her grandfather for an annual tap dance recital. As it turns out, she wanted to experience a touching moment with her dear grandfather and asked him to lend her a hand and his tapping feet.
It might have been just a sweet little moment, but we think Maeve and her grandfather were in on a little secret.
Because as it turns out, her grandfather is a veteran dancer himself.
In fact, Bill Jones, the 72-year-old grandfather in the video, was raised by a family of dance enthusiasts. His own grandmother was a professional dancer who used to dance with Bill’s father while Bill was a child. So it’s easy to imagine that dancing is all in the family.
So you can bet that Bill was proud to be included in his granddaughter’s recital.
The song chosen for this performance was Anna Kendrick’s When I’m Gone
The video of this tapping performance was uploaded by Maeve’s mom on YouTube. The couple are dressed in a similar color scheme of blue and white with bright smiles. Before the song cues up, they reach the center of the stage hand-in-hand which is just lovely and delightful.
But then the music starts up and they are off like rockets. They move and sway in sync, which just shows you how much they must have worked out the routine. It’s not easy dancing with a partner so much younger or shorter than you are, after all.
Well this incredible song gets an amazing performance by these two
You might remember the song from the film, Pitch Perfect. Originally the song was performed by the Carter Family back in 1931 and is usually performed a cappella. The idea is to capture the spirit of the song as presented in the film.
The dancing duo chose for their performance Anna Kendrick’s When I’m Gone, you might remember as Cups from the film Pitch Perfect. The song was originally performed by the Carter Family back in 1931 and it was usually performed a cappella with the use of cup as a percussion, exactly as Kendrick does in the film.
As you can guess, the Internet went crazy for these two
With over 3 million views, you know that these two became a hit sensation. Especially when Bill performs incredible moves like this.
Audience members who were present and those who saw it online loved the performance. It seemed to strike a chord with many viewers who had close relations with their grandparents.
One woman said:
“I was very close to my grandpa. He’s been gone 21 years. This brought me to tears. This little girl will cherish this!”.
Another adds that:
“The little girl did the cartwheel, but when her grandfather did it all, I could say was woohoo! They did a wonderful job. You go, grandfather!”.
