Can you believe that the Backstreet Boys were formed 25 years ago?
That is a lifetime in the music industry! BSB was first formed in 1993 when Nick Carter was still just a young teenager, but they didn’t rise to international superstardom until 1996 when their debut album released.
In the last 25 years, the band has put out eight studio albums, 28 singles, one live album, three compilation albums, and 25 music videos. That is a lot of work!
You’d think they’d all be at home resting right now, but they actually have a new single out, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” which is not to be confused with some of their earlier songs, like “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)” or “I’ll Never Break Your Heart.”
Not only are they still releasing new music, the Backstreet Boys are also currently performing in Las Vegas at their residency at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
You’d think they might want a little bit of a break after all this time, right?
Well, that is what The Late Late Show host James Corden thought anyhow. He decided to fly out to Las Vegas to explain that to the Backstreet Boys.
They haven’t been going for 25 years nonstop, in case you were concerned. Over the years, members of the band have taken time off for health reasons and the entire band has gone on hiatus for a year or two.
But still, 25 years is a long time, especially for a boy band!
James decided to offer to step in for one member of the band to become a part of BSB for a night and to let that band member take some much needed time off.
Kevin Richardson tried to nicely tell James that he didn’t know if it would be a good idea to switch out, seeing as people head to Vegas just to see them.
The band joked around with James, saying that he wouldn’t know what to do up on stage because of all of their costume changes!
James decided to make the five members of the band – Nick, Kevin, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, and Howie Dorough – vote on who they wanted out of the band for one night. But these bandmates are like brothers and refused to vote!
James voted Brian out and he agreed to take a break for the night!
After Brian left, the other members of the band were forced to teach James all of the lyrics and choreography to their show. But little did they know, James was there to mess around with them and do as badly as he could!
In the end, Brian wound up performing with them, but he let James stick around too, so James got a chance to feel like a real member of BSB for one night!
So what do you think, could James Corden go on the road with the Backstreet Boys? Or should he stick to late-night TV and let the professional boy banders do their job?
