There are countless dancing duos on the internet that blow us away. However, it’s hard to believe that some of them aren’t actually partners, and their dances aren’t actually ones they’d practiced before.
John Lindo and Alyssa Glanville are a couple of talented swing dancers who managed to wow judges during a competition. For those of us who aren’t in the dancing world – it’s pretty unreal that their amazing “performance” was all improv and not something they’d rehearsed in their living rooms.
When John Lindo was announced as the next competitor during the Capital Swing Dance convention, he had no clue who he’d be dancing with. Nor, did he know what song would be playing in the background either.
But that’s the name of the game with Jack and Jill contests! Instead of being judged on rehearsed routines, contestants are evaluated on their social dance skills through improvisation (with the judges basing their decisions on many factors).
Lindo has made a name for himself in the world of West Coast Swing over the years, bringing home numerous awards in Strictly Swing and Jack and Jill competitions.
In this particular competition, the beautiful and extremely talented Alyssa Glanville was called up to be his partner. After the two embraced, their first song was finally revealed…
It wasn’t a fast track like some might envision, but instead Ed Sheeran’s romantic ballad, “Thinking Out Loud.”
Right away the duo jumped into a smooth and sexy dance that had the crowd captivated. Since it was posted on YouTube, it’s been watched more than 1.1 million times.
The chemistry between the pair is powerful as they glide around the dance floor. They even throw in moves that seem to go perfectly with the popular tune – like when Lindo dips Glanville multiple times or nuzzles her neck like a lover.
Just as the room was heating up with the pair’s “Thinking Out Loud” dance, it suddenly came to an end. But that didn’t mean they were done yet though…
A second song then began to play called “Spankin’ Leroy,” which is by music artist Lucky Peterson. Let’s just say that it shifted their dance into one that was quite a bit more “funky.”
While the tune and the vibe were different, the couple’s chemistry didn’t change one bit.
They flowed with the music flawlessly as if they had created a routine beforehand. For this dance too they had moves that matched up with the beat.
Lindo and Glanville’s adaptability goes along with the beauty of Jack and Jill competitions. Even without knowing who their dance partner was at first, or what songs were going to play – they still managed to rock it as if they had.
At the end of their turn, John Lindo and Alyssa Glanville had everyone rising to their feet for a standing ovation. Not only that, you couldn’t wipe the smiles off all the faces.
The dancing duo ended up winning third prize at the Capital Swing Dance competition that year, in the category of Jack & Jill Champions.
A woman named Tara felt uplifted by the video, commenting:
“Makes me feel alive watching this. Brilliant.”
Thom left a comment that was geared towards Lindo. He wrote:
“You can really tell that man loves to dance. Always smiling and entertaining.”
It’s an entertaining dance video that might just brighten your day. You can enjoy it for yourself below!
