As we get older, we gradually approach our golden years. But that’s not something to be worried about – in fact, our golden years are just that – golden years!

The video below is a perfect demonstration of that.

Jean Hupp, an 87-year-old resident of Eagle Ridge of Decatur, an assisted living community in Decatur, Illinois, is a great example that age is just a number. Jean lives with her husband Paul, who is one lucky fella!

During a birthday party in the facility’s ballroom, several members of the assisted living community were doing the “Electric Slide”. Jean was one of these members.

But always one to stand out from the crowd, Jean’s version of the “Electric Slide” took on a life of it’s own, and quickly spread across the internet in a viral sensation.

In case you’re wondering, Jean is aware of her superstar internet fame – and she’s just giddy about it.

For those who don’t know, “The Electric Slide” is a song by Marcia Griffiths. The song is commonly heard at social events like weddings, parties, and group gatherings.

The “electric slide” dance branched off the song. Similar to a line dance, the electric slide features basic choreography with easy footwork for dancers of all levels.

You can see the electric slide in action below. And at first, Jean is a model example of the dance. But then, she decides to customize the move to her own tastes.

When everyone else turns to continue the dance, Jean goes against the crowd and boogies to her own beat!

The sight is so great and wholesome, it makes you want to dance watching Jean’s contagious moves!

According to Sarah Butts, a resident service coordinator for Eagle Ridge of Decatur, Jean’s internet fame from her dance moves doesn’t come as a shock.

“Mrs. Hupp loves to dance; she has been dancing her whole life,” Sarah said.

Jean and her husband Paul have been living at Eagle Ridge for the last three years, and during those three years, Jean was always there for any party or social event.

“This is so Jean – she is always the life and soul of the party. She loves to keep moving her body and mind, she says it helps to keep her young. We all absolutely loved seeing her and the other residents enjoying themselves. It’s so rewarding.“

I couldn’t agree with Sarah more.
