We all have that one song we can’t resist dancing to.

Whatever that song is, it normally represents a period of our life when we felt happy. It could be a top hit when we were in our teens. It could be a relatively obscure dance hit that is popular among our group of friends.
Music and memory match
Music spurns out memories. It is a tool that allows us to travel back in time. We experience a sensory connection to any familiar tune’s lyrics and melody.
There are scientific explanations for why this is so. According to a study done by Finnish researchers in 2011, music:
“…activates wide networks in the brain, including areas responsible for motor actions, emotions, and creativity. Their method of mapping revealed complex dynamics of brain networks and the way music affects us.”
Thus, music does not only entertain us but also “wakes our brains up.” When we hear familiar tunes, our dormant memories flash before us. We are then smiling (or crying) in no time.

Music is also universal
Music also has a great way of connecting people. Even if you live in countries very far apart from someone else, the likelihood of you listening to the same pop hit is high. In fact, songs can be great conversation starters when you meet someone for the first time.

This group certainly evokes some good memories
A YouTube video that has so far garnered over 4 million views does its job to bring out memories from the young and the old. Here, we see four young men from Germany knit together dance hits from the 1960s until the 2010s. Their great song selection and their dance moves cement their place on the Internet.

Every step brings joy
The group is not professional. You can see that they miss beats and bungle some steps. They are, however, very fun to watch.
Their choreography is great but their antics are greater. The audience thoroughly enjoys their performance. They cheer and, at times, even chuckle out of sheer delight.

Song choice is everything
In a span of about 7-minutes, the group curates a mash-up of iconic dance hits. They start by grooving to “Ben E. King’s Stand by Me” and end with Psy’s monster dance hit “Gangnam Style.” In between these two, they do the Macarena, dance to a Britney Spears song, and “put their hands up” to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.”

They fumble, they tumble
The guys are very talented. You can see that they have practiced a lot. They are having a lot of fun.
They do make some missteps. It does not stop them from performing well. They have lots of tricks in their pocket to entertain the audience. This includes some awesome tumbling and pyramid-like formations.

They are sensational
The group is an Internet sensation. However, this seems to be an unexpected result. One YouTube user patiently informs some background as to who the guys are:
They are not a professional dance group. They are just 4 Guys from my school in Germany, Nordrhein-westfalen. They made this choeography for their prom celebration to show how much happened in Music in the several years they attended our school. It’s basically just for fun. They put this video on youtube for their own reasons and because people liked it so much. Somehow it also went viral on youtube which is great :) Maybe they will do another video someday.

We are not surprised that this group is loved. However, what is especially great about their performance is how their song choices evoke so many good vibes from the viewers. They are just very cool to watch.
