Several firefighters begin to serenade the camera, lip-syncing the song. One of them lounges longingly with one of the shiniest axes we’ve ever seen. And shortly after, another firefighter steals the screen – swinging in shirtless on, yes that’s right, a wrecking ball. The video continues by panning to the next fireman’s dream.

Next, the firefighters are rolling down the highway lip-syncing to George Straight’s classic 1984 single, “The Fireman”.

The scene invites the fire department’s mascot, Sparky the dalmatian, to come out and play in the waterworks with them. As the song plays and the hoses jet water, the firefighters dance and lip-sync with soaking wet t-shirts.

Cue to a fireman who is taking a shave in the bathroom mirror. As he’s applying the foam to his face he muses about the local police department, wondering if they actually think the fire department is as cool as they really are.

The video answers that question with more humor, cutting to a scene with the police in their car.

One officer shifts through the music stations on the car’s radio, cycling through all the songs lip-synced thus far. He lands on “My Hero” by the Foo Fighters. As the two cops see a firetruck race by in front of them, they point and sing the lyrics, ‘there goes my hero’. With a nod to the original music video, the cops’ faces are even dusted with powdered donuts.

In the epic conclusion, we’re left with a rendition of Aqua’s 1997 hit “Barbie Girl”.

In the final scene, all of the firemen are awakened by a resounding bell for a fire call. They jump out of bed and snap into action to tend to the situation. We’re left with one final shirtless fireman, sweeping through the empty sleeping quarters in a tutu. He dances around and lip-syncs in the absence of his colleagues. He slides down the pole into the garage, twirling in between firetrucks until the record scratches and he realizes he’s being watched by the entire department.

The video concludes with fire department thanking the PD for the challenge before they pass the torch on.
