When you imagine the life of a farmer, you might be picturing a busy schedule that lasts from sun up to sundown. After all, with farm animals and crops to manage, how can a farmer possibly have time for anything else? Well, the Peterson brothers are here to show that you can have fun and work hard at the same time.
Meet the Peterson Family
The video opens with shots of the Peterson brothers and their family. Small children and their parents and relatives clapping, stomping, and posing for the camera while getting their dairy cow duties started.
Not their first rodeo
The Peterson Brothers love music and enjoy making musical covers and parodies.
But then you hear the familiar percussion from Queen’s “We Will Rock You”. Dairy cows bop their heads in time to the music while the sweeping of a broom adds a unique sound to the popular melody.
But when the lyrics start, viewers know they’re in for something special and different.
It’s a different kind of arena rock.
“We will, We will, Milk Cows”
From the opening lyrics of this cover, viewers are treated to a song that celebrates and teaches what being a dairy farmer is all about. Two daily milkings to fill our cups with essential vitamins and nutrients, the song shows how proud this family is of the work they do.
Dairy farming isn’t just about food, it’s also about…
“Baby you’re a new born
Fragile, mooin’, nice and cute
But your momma might stomp on you”
This cover uses music to bring up issues of safety that every dairy farmer has to think about. Like how young cows are at health risks from their parents. So the cows are separated into their own areas and cared for until they’re big enough to join the herd.
This makes “We Will Milk Cows” an entertaining song as well as a surprisingly educational one.
The Peterson brothers sing to address concerns about their industry
“Go and visit a farm
They live there in peace each day”
The Peterson brothers know that a lot of questions come up about dairy farming. Everything from whether calves are separated from their parents to whether dairy milk is GMO. The music video goes to great lengths to show that dairy cows are well cared for and loved. They basically call these concerns and questions an:
The video even shows several shots of cows and people interacting positively. From adults to small children, it’s no question how these farmers live peacefully with these bovine friends.
The brothers welcome viewers to learn more because…
“Somebody needs to know the true story today”
The fail end of the music video is backed by an incredible guitar solo that is paired up with acapella stomping and clapping. While this solo plays out, the video shows shots of the hard work that farmers go through every day for their cows. From cleaning to passing out feed.
They then show how this work fills our grocer aisles across the country with fresh milk. As the video comes to a close, it cuts to the brothers seated at a table for milk and cookies when one of them says:
“That’s Dairy Good”
