Chores are really boring. No one eagerly wants to do them, especially if it’s something like cleaning the bathroom.

However, they must be done, and there are ways to go about making chores fun instead of a begrudging task.

You can sing to yourself, make up an impromptu game, or in the case of Jay Lavery: dance like no one is watching.

In a hilarious and amusing video, Jay Lavery makes sweeping the barn amazingly entertaining to watch.

At the start of the video, you wouldn’t expect the video to end the way it did. But it’s well worth watching it all the way through.

First, he shows us how barn sweeping is done. It’s pretty straightforward and he has great technique.

But moments into the video, Rihanna’s “Pon de Replay” begins to play. And the hypnotic beat instantly starts to take Jay over.

He shakes his hips like his hips don’t lie, spins around on the tip of his foot, and uses the broom as a dancing partner.

At one point, Jay decides to forgo the broom and let the music consume him.

His short four-minute performance is a fun ride from start to finish! Jay’s performance has earned over 40,000 views on Facebook so far, and many on the Internet want to join in on the fun:

Jay doesn’t mind the attention his barn dance is receiving.

In fact, he has a sense of humor about that too, writing, “Well I knew it was just a matter of time before someone leaked one of my previous barn dances. I guess my private dancing is a thing of the past.”

Along with a fun sense of humor, Jay’s dancing actually has a purpose. As he puts it: “Dancing is how I stay warm in the barn and I never know when I’m going to break out into a dance. But what most people don’t know is that 16 years ago I had a traumatic back injury that caused me to have several back surgeries including a discectomy and a spinal fusion and never ending back pain. Dancing along with yoga and meditation are my only alternatives to pain medication.”

What a wholesome way to relieve pain.

It’s videos like these that remind us that it’s okay to let go and not take things seriously all the time. Jay’s dancing moves are smooth and effortless, not to mention contagious!

He also uploaded a sequel to his performance in December 2017:

Jay writes, “When I’m motivated by a song I just go for it and dance like no one is watching. I hope this can inspire anyone to move in spite of pain and I hope this puts a smile on your face for the New Year and I’ll look forward to dancing with you all. Peace and Love, Jay”.

Keep on dancing Jay! Here’s to hoping this becomes a regular series.
