When we first think of a ballet performance, the worlds “elegance,” “romantic,” and “grace.” come to mind. Ballet is a performance dance that demands technical perfection. It requires years of training in order to learn and subsequently master.
So you can imagine my shock when I saw the following ballet performance performed at the Vienna State Opera. Rather than stick with the traditional ballet tone, they decided to shake things up a bit. What they produced is something they call a “funny ballet.”
The choreography for this performance included staged mistakes, which are exaggerated and emphasized. It’s clear which of the girls is messing up or forgetting the proper move. The result is a comical, quirky, but still beautiful routine that will blow you away!
