Sometimes it doesn’t take long for a judge on The Voice Kids to realize they’d better make a move. Just like on an episode of the Filipino version of the show – when all it took was a few words of a Bee Gees classic to send hands flying.

Eight-year-old Angelico “Echo” Claridad might look small, but he’s got a powerful voice that can lift your soul. In fact, his blind audition has chilled people across the globe and it’s now been watched over 20 million times!

Standing out is important on reality shows like The Voice. Each season, there’s a long list of contestants that sign up hoping to become the next star – but only a small amount ever really shine.

Young Echo is a talented singer from the City of Bacolod in the Philippines. Before going on The Voice Kids, he made an interesting song choice you don’t hear every day. He planned to wow the coaches singing “Too Much Heaven,” by the Bee Gees.

All three of the chairs were flipped when Echo made his walk to the center-stage. Of course, they had no idea what kind of a blind audition was headed their way.

Once the schoolboy belts out his first note, musician Lea Salonga is so impressed she yells out, “whoa, hello” from her seat. It’s obvious she was liking what she was hearing.

After Echo sings the first couple of lyrics, there was no question he had incredible talent. Salonga slams down on her red button, with fellow artist, Sarah Geronimo, quickly following.

The big red chairs instantly swivel around and they come face to face with eight-year-old Echo.

As Salonga listens for another moment to his beautiful voice, she can’t help but exclaim, “Oh, I love you already!” Just by having two coaches turn it meant that Echo had secured a spot in the next round. Yet, would he be able to make the last one turn as well?

Get ready for a goosebump-inducing cover of “Too Much Heaven,” which was released in 1978 by the brother band.

The Bee Gees performed their song at the “Music for UNICEF Concert” in an effort to help raise money for the program. Other artists did the same, such as Rod Stewart, Olivia Newton-John, and Donna Summer. By no surprise, it became a number-one hit for the group.

It’s hard to not feel your heartstrings being pulled as Echo sings:

“Nobody gets too much heaven no more
It’s much harder to come by
I’m waiting in line.”

Echo’s musical abilities really shine through as he continues on. At one point, the boy hits a high note so amazingly that the last coach can no longer just sit back.

Bamboo Manalac joins the others and hits his button too. Echo had managed to wow the entire panel, which is an accomplishment that doesn’t happen all the time.

In the end, the contestant had a choice to make of which coach to go with. Lucky for Lea Salonga, she was the artist he wanted to work with!

The coaches weren’t the only ones who loved Echo’s performance. His blind audition went viral and has more than 65,000 thumbs-ups on YouTube.

It’s gathered comments like:

“Love to listen to this kid over and over again.”

Another person wrote:

“Oh My, I have always loved the Bee Gees and this is one my faves he is so good makes me wanna cry.”
