The finale of America’s Got Talent season 13 has come and gone and the winner might surprise you!

Shin Lim, a magician known for his incredible and wild card manipulation, was crowned the winner.

In fact, Courtney Hadwin didn’t even crack the Top 5. She finished in the Top 10, however.

The Top 5 for season 13 was:

  1. Shin Lim
  2. Zurcaroh, the aerial dance group
  3. Brian King Joseph, an electric violinist
  4. Samuel J. Comroe, a comedian
  5. Michael Ketterer, a singer

Fans of the series were shocked when Courtney Hadwin didn’t advance to the Top 5, especially after she performed “River Deep, Mountain High” for the Finals round.

On Tuesday, September 19, 2018, the first of two finale episodes of America’s Got Talent, the acts had to perform a final solo song. For the following episode the next day, the acts each got to perform with a guest star.

For the season, Courtney had seemed like she was destined to win or at least place in the Top 3. But fans were shocked when she didn’t make it forward in the Finale episode of AGT.

Even though Courtney didn’t win or make it as far as expected, she did wind up earning a prize at the end of the day.

It has been reported that Courtney Hadwin was signed by judge Simon Cowell. A representative for Simon has yet to officially confirm the news, but Courtney headed to Simon’s house the day after the season finale and it is rumored she was signed to Syco.

If you haven’t been keeping up with America’s Got Talent this season, Courtney Hadwin has been a can’t-miss act since her audition.

After performing a jazz hit, Courtney became one of the most talked about acts on the show – because she is so young and so talented.

For her audition, Courtney performed a very eccentric and lively cover of Otis Reading’s “Hard to Handle.” It had the judges talking immediately!

Howie Mandel liked her performance so much, he slammed his Golden Buzzer to send Courtney straight to the live shows.

When Courtney returned for her second performance on America’s Got Talent, it was just as memorable as her first audition.

For her second performance on America’s Got Talent, Courtney decided to channel the King of Soul. She chose to sing “Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag” by James Brown.

Her performance got off the ground in seconds, as she began with a shrill yell that demanded the audience’s undivided attention.

She returned to the stage for a third time this season to perform during the semifinals and once again, Courtney proved she is a talent like no other.

Courtney performed a version of “Born to be Wild” that would make Steppenwolf proud. It didn’t sound anything like the original song at first, but that is what made it incredible.

When she was done singing, the judges got a chance to tell Courtney what they thought of her cover of “Born to be Wild.”
