One of the most recent contestants on America’s Got Talent has returned to the stage and blew the judges away once more.
If you watched last season of AGT, chances are you know who Courtney Hadwin is. Her audition instantly went viral after it aired on TV.
Courtney earned the third Golden Buzzer of season 13 of America’s Got Talent from judge Howie Mandel.
For her audition, the teen took the America’s Got Talent stage and quickly told judge Mel B that she was nervous. The judge was kind enough to tell Courtney not to be nervous.
She asked what Courtney’s favorite subject in school was and unsurprisingly, it is music. Courtney doesn’t have a piece of particular favorite music to study in school, but after listening to her audition, it is safe to say Courtney likes the classics.
She used her long, lanky arms to accentuate her every move and commanded the stage while she sang Otis Reading’s “Hard to Handle.”
Her audition was so electric and unique, the judges were instantly amazed by her talent. In fact, Howie Mandel actually compared her to one of the greatest musicians of all time, Janis Joplin.
Before he slammed his Golden Buzzer for Courtney, Howie said:
“I’m not Clive Davis. I’m Howie Mandel. I can’t sign you to a record deal. The only thing I can do for you young lady is give you…”
Getting a Golden Buzzer during the audition rounds is one of the highest praises that an act can get. So, it comes as no surprise that Courtney returned for America’s Got Talent: The Champions.
This season, they are bringing back the best of the best from all of the Got Talent shows, not just AGT. Susan Boyle actually was the first Golden Buzzer of this season!
For Courtney’s return to AGT, she chose to perform her first original song, a rock and roll melody named “Pretty Little Thing.”
America’s Got Talent shared the video on their YouTube channel, where it has since gotten over 3,000 comments from fans across the globe.
One fan wrote:
I followed her right from the beginning and it was too bad she didn’t win. Seeing Courtney come on the stage and sing a song she wrote is amazing. She has an amazing talent. Keep on singing Courtney, you did a great job singing this song.
Sadly, just like other AGT star Darci Lynne Farmer, Courtney did not receive enough votes to move on in the competition and went home after week 2.
What did you think of Courtney’s rendition of this song?
