It seems like there’s a new reality show coming up every year. It’s easy to get them confused with each other or to lose track of them.

One of the newer ones, The Four, pits contestants directly against each other as they battle for four coveted seats that keep them safe until the next round.

It’s often so hard to determine a winner for one-on-one battles like these because the artists all have such individual styles. Comparing a soulful crooner to a hard rocker is basically an impossible task.

But, it all comes down to who wins over the studio audience that night. You could call it fate, you could call it chance. However, to win over an audience, you have to have personality, charm, and sheer talent.

When Noah Barlass first stepped on stage, the judges thought that he was just this regular shy guy from the south.

Growing up in a place where it was expected that the boys would play football and go to rodeos, Noah always felt as if he was out of place. Growing up feeling like you were doing something wrong, or that there’s something not right about who you are as a person can really affect your self-worth as an adult.

However, now that he’s working to make a living as a musician in Nashville, he’s found people who understand his passions and who he is deep down.

When he gets on the stage, you can see the shyness melt away.

When he makes it through to the challenge, he has to choose whose chair he’ll try to steal… and he picks the hard rock dude with the eyeliner and gritty, growling voice, Jesse Kramer.

During the challenge, both guys give it their all, but it’s impossible to tell who did a better job. Both of their voices offer such different, unique qualities! Noah has a bright, technically perfect voice with impeccable runs and range. Jesse, on the other hand, is a rocker through and through, bringing an intensity to the Prince song he chooses to sing that one wouldn’t expect.

The judges have mixed opinions on who they think earned their way to the seat up on stage. Diddy didn’t think that either of them proved that they deserved it, but from the sound of the audience, there may already be a clear winner.

Then, it’s time for the audience to cast their vote. The moments that pass as everyone awaits the results are so incredibly tense. Can you imagine what’s going through both of their minds, and how quickly their hearts must be racing in anticipation?

Who do you think deserved to win this battle? The shy guy from the south, or the heavy metal rocker with a little bit of attitude? They’re so drastically different, I personally can’t decide who I like better.
