A performance worth watching more than once

The music began to play and the skating arena was filled with The Weeknd’s song, Earned It from Fifty Shades of Grey. In fact, this performance was loosely inspired by the attraction of the two stars of the movie, which quickly becomes evident in their performance.

The two took to the ice in simple but elegant skating attire, with him in a black-two piece and her in a racy black skating dress that complimented it perfectly. The two of them rarely wear anything overly flashy when on the ice, even during major performances, instead choosing to wow the audience with their seamless skating including lifts, throws, jumps, and moves that are athletically skillful and perfectly in unison from start to finish, never missing a beat.

Chemistry, talent, and the right music to go with it all

As for Christian and Anastasia’s chemistry, we think the French pairs skaters might have even outdone the movie couple.

They covered the ice in unison, with Morgon effortlessly throwing and holding Vanessa in the air, and her landing back on the ice effortlessly and perfectly each time. As the rhythm of the song continued, the two were brought together as if drawn inexplicably to each other by more than just a choreographed routine. We’re sure more than a few people in the crowd were fanning themselves for this bronze-winning performance.

“Not only are they beautiful together; but their choreography is difficult and sensual. You can’t keep your eyes off of them.”

How the perfect pair came to be

Vanessa has been skating for quite some time. She was the British National skating champion in 2006 and represented France in 2010 in pairs skating with Yannick Bonheur.

While Morgan is not Vanessa’s first skating partner, the two of them have been sharing the ice for almost a decade now. Their debut as a pair was in 2011 when they came in 5th place together at the 2011 Ondrej Nepela Memorial. That’s not too bad of a start for a skating duo who have now collected a significant number of medals together, including a few gold ones along the way.
