Even though Pink Floyd set the bar high for musicians covering their songs, this mystery guitarist was more than up to the challenge.

While the original was done on guitar, this man gave himself even more of a challenge by doing it acoustically. Throughout the cover, his fingers were probably “comfortably numb” themselves from all that bending!

The video proves that music, as much as everything else, requires an innovative approach.

This young man has incredible guitar skills and relies on his raw talent to play rather than on any additional effects.

His sound is clean and his guitar is beautiful. Anyone looking to learn acoustic guitar can definitely take this video as inspiration! Everything is done smoothly: the bends, the vibrato, the stops and intervals are all executed perfectly.

It is nice to see that David Gilmour passed on his musical legacy to another generation.

Gilmour’s performances with Pink Floyd were always nothing short of spectacular, and it’s nice to see that he has inspired so many.

The solo in this song is a famous masterpiece and many musicians fail at hitting every note or getting the perfect timing. Fortunately, the Acoustician nailed it—and we’re sure Gilmour would approve.

We would love to hear the full song done by this guy. Even though he makes the playing sound easy, it’s actually quite hard to pull off. The arrangement is exceptional and the fact that he also plays the rhythm in the background is amazing.

This video was uploaded on YouTube in 2016 to a channel called Acoustician.

The guy with all the skills is a man called Juha Jarvinen and he is from Finland. His channel has 722,000 subscribers and is full of classic rock covers. He plays various hits including “Sweet Child ‘O Mine” by Guns ‘N Roses, “Sultans of Swing” by Dire Straits, “Layla” by Eric Clapton, “Fade to Black” by Metallica and many more.

His version of “Comfortably Numb” got almost six million views, and the comments section was full of requests for more songs. It’s nice to see that the online community recognized and cherished his talent. It’s easy to be proud of hardworking young people who put their efforts and hearts into making such pieces of incredible beauty. Judging by the number of likes he got, this man mastered the beauty of his music.

Fortunately, the Acoustician still has plenty of other classic rock covers on his channel as well.

Anybody who appreciates a similar acoustic sound interpreting the classic rock greats is sure to love his cover of “Sultans of Swing” as well:

Just like the other video, the mystery man blazes through difficult passages with ease and breathes a whole new life into an old classic. Because they don’t make music that’s as guitar-forward as these groups were anymore, it’s easy to see why some people still prefer the classics.
