Christina Aguilera is a ’90s queen and an incredible pop diva.
In the late ’90s and early ’00s, it was a battle between who was the bigger pop star, Xtina or Britney Spears. The two were pretty much always pitted against each other and TBH, it was ridiculous.
They were (and still are) amazing. But you can’t deny that Christina definitely is better live than Brit since Christia has always been able to sing live.
However, the debate still rages on to this day, even though the women are older and moms now. Feuds never truly die, but I think these two have secretly been BFFs and laughing at everyone the whole time.
Xtina recently appeared on an episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden in his famous sketch, “Carpool Karaoke.”
The skit is one of James most popular bits. So much so, Apple Music even launched a TV series in 2017 with weekly episodes for Apple Music users.
I can’t believe it took three years to get Christina to do this segment! Host James Corden has gotten so many stars onto the show just for this, like Selena Gomez, Bruno Mars, Jennifer Lopez, Stevie Wonder, One Direction, and so much more.
For the skit, Christina and James sang some of Xtina’s biggest hits from the early 2000s, like “Dirrty,” “Fighter,” “Beautiful,” and “Genie in a Bottle.”
Xtina even taught James how to do her iconic “growl” where she traps her voice in her throat while singing. James didn’t sound quite like her, but that’s okay. He tried!
That wasn’t the only fun that they had – Melissa McCarthy literally popped up in the backseat of the car and claimed to have “been there the whole time.”
Melissa is currently promoting her new film, Life of the Party, while Christina Aguilera was on the show because she is finally releasing new music. According to Us Weekly, fans can expect Xtina’s newest album since 2012’s Lotus in May 2018. The new album reportedly will feature a lot of R&B.
James joked around with the pop star that she needed to teach him how to be a diva.
“I feel like Melissa and I, in our heads, we feel like we could be divas?” But we need someone to teach us the true technique.”
Seriously, the VH1 Diva warmup is not for the faint of heart but watching this video will make you nearly cry from laughing!
Xtina also spilled some hot gossip about her former Mickey Mouse Club co-stars, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, and Britney Spears.
“[Timberlake] had swag. Back then he had swag,” she said. “But I know Ryan did have a crush on Britney. I think so.”
We all know how Justin and Britney panned out. Maybe she should have gone for Ryan? Oh well, they’re all happy now and that is all that matters.
Christina totally nailed this, right? I can’t believe she can still sing like that after all of these years! This woman has true talent.
