Adele is one of the greatest modern artists of our generation. They had greats like Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, and Madonna… we have Adele.
The English singer-songwriter graduated from BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in 2006 and was given a recording contract by XL Recordings after a friend posted her demo on Myspace that same year.
A year later she was the winner of the 2007 Brit Awards “Critics’ Choice” award and won the BBC Sound of 2008 a year after that. Her debut album “19” was released in 2008 and went platinum seven times in the UK. Like her first album, Adele’s second album “21” also received many awards and went platinum 16 times in the UK and is the fourth best-selling album in the nation.
Her third album “25,” was released in 2015, was certified diamond in the U.S., and won her five Grammy Awards. The song “Hello” is the lead single from “25” written by Adele and her producer Greg Kurstin.
The piano ballad has soul influences and went number one in pretty much every country it charted in, according to Wikipedia.
It was also at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts for 10 consecutive weeks. It was the first song to sell more than a million digital copies in a week, sold 12.3 million units globally, and was the year’s 7th best single.
Perhaps the song’s success is why Charles Kablan decided that would be his audition song when he appeared on The Voice of Italy in 2016.
He sang the song perfectly and captured the attention of the judges right away. Each of them seemed equally impressed by his voice. He sounded exactly like Adele!
So much so that when each of the judges spun around to pass him onto the next round, they were shocked to see that he was a male and not a female.
“Am I the only one who got goosebumps as soon as he raised his voice and said hello from the other side??” said one YouTuber.
“Greetings from the USA, Charles you have my vote a million times over you are just so so so awesome. I love your voice simply beautiful. TEAMKILLA IS THE BEST, WELL JUST CHARLES KABLAN,” said another. “Prepare for the win Killa because Charles has it in the bag baby. Write your acceptance speech baby.”
The video of Kablam’s performance ended up getting more than three million views on YouTube. You can watch it in the video below.
