Meet 10-year old Kaylee Rodgers from North-Ireland who simply amazed the entire world with her beautiful, strong voice. Most people would have plenty of nerves performing on stage, but Kaylee was definitely able to step out of her comfort zone when she beautifully sang “Hallelujah”, as she suffers from autism and ADHD.

Kaylee led the school student choir with a phenomenal rendition of Leonard Cohen’s song and it surely was a way for her to gain self-confidence.

When Kaylee starts to sing at the Killard House Special School, the whole audience listens in awe.

Colin Millar, the proud principal of the school, has mentioned to BBC News that Kaylee is usually a very shy person, but that all goes away when she takes a microphone and starts to sing on stage.

“All my kids have talents, as well as barriers, and this is hers. She’d be a very quiet little girl, but when she sings, she just opens up,” the principal said.

The transformation is certainly remarkable and it wasn’t easy for Kaylee to perform in front of an audience.

“For a child who came in P4 (7 to 8 years old) and wouldn’t really talk, wouldn’t really read out in class, to stand and perform in front of an audience is amazing. It takes a lot of effort on Kaylee’s part,” he said.

Kaylee’s music teacher, Lloyd Scates, noticed her musical talent and motivated her to pursue her dreams and keep singing.

“She always loved singing, but it wasn’t until she started at Killard House School that she really came into her own,” Kaylee’s mom told BBC. “[Mr. Scates is] like her safety blanket ― he’s amazing.”

The lyrics of the song were slightly altered by a Christian rock band named Cloverton, which adds an interesting touch.

A video of Kaylee’s performance with her classmates was posted online and quickly went viral.

“Powerful voice. Many don’t understand that kids with autism can be very talented and very bright. They just have trouble communicating and do it in different ways. And kudos to whoever wrote the words – well done! Much better than the original. And all the kids are in a special school so they all have some challenge or another. Good job all!” Molly Porter said.
