Carrie Underwood has been spreading a lot of cheer this holiday season. On top of releasing a new Christmas album titled My Gift, she’s been bringing some of the tracks to life on stage as well!

Just recently, the country superstar was a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show, where the two American Idol winners had a chance to talk virtually. But what television appearance would be complete without a musical performance? Yes, Underwood gave one of those too, and as to be expected – it’s spinetingling.

Underwood and Clarkson are Grammy award-winning singers whose careers were initially launched by American Idol.

Clarkson was crowned champion of the very first season of the reality competition, and Underwood won the fourth. Since then, they’ve both become huge names in the music industry, gathering fans all around the world.

During their interview on Clarkson’s show, Underwood revealed something interesting… She almost didn’t audition for American Idol because of cold feet!

She explained:

“It was kind of like once things started taking off, and then the thought of me going to Hollywood by myself, and I’d never been on a plane before. It was very unlike me to just go for it.”

The country star continued:

“It was scary. So I definitely had a moment of ‘what am I doing?’ Like it’s easier to stay home, you know? But I mean, I wouldn’t be doing anything I’m doing now.”

My Gift is Carrie Underwood’s first Christmas album and it’s a mix of holiday favorites and originals.

The tracklist contains classics like “O Holy Night,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” and a duet of “Little Drummer Boy” (which she created with her son). There’s also a beautiful track, “Hallelujah,” that features singer-songwriter John Legend.

When discussing the album, Underwood shared with Clarkson:

“It was something I’ve always wanted to do. I knew it was inevitable. If you have a career that lasts any timespan at all you’re going to make a Christmas album, you just have to.”

Underwood has made the season brighter with spectacular performances of the songs – including on her HBO Max special called My Gift.

But that’s not all…

To go along with her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Underwood performed a stunning cover of “Mary, Did You Know?” It’s been viewed over 100K times on YouTube in just a few days.
