Going through puberty and adolescence is tough for everybody.

Though it goes without saying, it’s not just your body that’s going through all kinds of changes. Beyond that, you have to think about your place in the world, how to be social, and how to deal with all kinds of new and raw feelings. When we have good family and friends around us who support us, it can make things easier, but getting too much negative feedback can put us in a bad place. Finding a way to channel our negative feelings into something productive becomes key to success.

That’s exactly what one performer on Britain’s Got Talent decided to do.

The performer in question was 17-year-old Shakirudeen Adewale Alade, though he tells the judges he goes by Junior.

As Junior explains in the behind-the-scenes clips, going through school had been pretty hard for him. He was struggling with the school work and felt trapped and unable to do better. That inability to do as well as he wanted to do led to him feeling bad about himself and acting out in school because of it.

After that, he started getting in trouble. A little while after, he discovered dancing and he started to get his confidence back. As people started to compliment him, he started to change inside—and he channeled those feelings into his performances.

On Britain’s Got Talent, Junior goes by Bonetics—and he’s ready to blow the whole crowd away.

As the performance starts, Junior gets into a bit of a contorted position on the ground.

Though the crowd looks a little confused by what he’s doing, a few moments later the music starts in the background. A few moments after, Junior is able to easily un-contort himself and rise to his feet again. Once he’s up, the performance starts to take on an unnerving feeling as he rolls his body around in smooth and seemingly impossible ways. Then, without warning, he twists his entire leg up and behind his head!

By this point, the judges are shocked and they know they’re seeing something special.

Still, the performance only gets even more impressive from there.

Before long, Junior is twisting his arms and legs in all kinds of impossible positions—positions that look like they would break a normal person’s bones!

Although the moves are certainly impressive, it’s definitely not what the audience is used to… still, it’s hard to deny that there is a ton of emotion in Junior’s performance. At various times throughout, though, the judges actually have to look away because it’s so hard to watch!

At the end of it all, he gets back on the ground and contorts himself into a ball again—and the crowd bursts into applause.

No matter how hard it was to watch, everybody in the crowd knew just how talented Junior really was.

The emotion he experiences when it’s all over is clearly overwhelming, and the judges only have more positive things to say.

His dancing was clearly incredible and everyone in the crowd felt his passion. Beyond that, it was also a very unique performance among all the other performances the judges have ever seen on the show before. When it’s all over, the votes come in.

Needless to say, Junior gets yeses from all the judges!

As this performance shows, finding a creative way to deal with your negative emotions can take you to great heights!

Although we can’t all dance and contort ourselves quite like Junior can, there are still plenty of ways we can find healthier coping mechanisms for our stress and our pain. If we follow our dreams like Junior did, we may even end up on the national stage performing for an audience.

Congratulations to Junior on his truly incredible performance! Check out the full video below:
