A big factor that determines our path through life is our attitude.
Although we may find ourselves faced with different circumstances in different stages of our life, the importance of keeping a positive and playful attitude can’t be overstated!
Many people think that as we get older, we have to become more “adult” and thus less spontaneous, more predictable and generally less fun. Still, just because we have more responsibilities doesn’t mean we need to lose track of the little kids inside of us!
Fortunately there was an act on Britain’s Got Talent that showed this truth all too clearly.
It all started when a group of five older men stepped out on the stage to introduce themselves.
After a quick interview, they told the crowd that their act was called Old Men Grooving—which is an apt name, as you’ll soon see. Right from the beginning, the judges are unsure what to make of them.
Next, the judges ask them what their jobs are. One of the men says that he’s an IT manager, while two of the others say that they’re teachers. Throughout the whole interview, the judges seem to be relatively hostile towards them—they’re clearly not expecting much.
When it’s all said and done, they clear the way so that the men can perform.
As it starts, all the men put their heads down while one in the front starts doing a little tap dancing.
Although the dancing isn’t bad, it isn’t anything special either—and Simon looks like he’s about to groan out loud. Still, a second later, the man makes a strange move and all the men come to life!
The five gents set into their own high-energy choreography, and as they come to life the crowd comes to life right along with them! After a minute they switch into another song.
Before long, the men are doing their own solos too!
Towards the end, “Sex Machine” by James Brown starts playing and the men even work in some breakdance moves!
The men have so much positive energy that the crowd never stops cheering the entire time! Some of the moves they do are truly incredible and their entire performance shocks the crowd.
When it’s all over, the boys hit one final pose before taking a bow. At that, the whole crowd and the judges get on their feet to give them a standing ovation.
Needless to say, everyone in the room underestimated them!
While their act was definitely impressive, the point of it all was less the actual moves and more the overall attitude.
Despite all the negative pressure (and even a little bit of laughter) from the crowd, Old Men Grooving knew that they had the energy and the positivity to rock the audience. As soon as they got started, their energy was infectious and they turned everything around for themselves!
As their performance shows, believing in yourself and keeping a light attitude towards life is so important when it comes to success. It also shows that no matter how old we get, we can always stay young at heart if we want to!
Congratulations to Old Men Grooving on their inspiring dance performance! Check out the full routine in the video below:
