A group of dancers from the Urban Theory school in Vallecrosia, Italy struck gold with a stunning performance that got the judges standing in awe.
They call themselves Black Widow. And for good reason.
Even if you don’t understand Italian, you get the idea of what the judges are saying. Besides, Italian is music to the ears. So add that to this mesmerizing act and you get Italian gold.

It’s like a dream.
The curtains part to a haunting melody, to which the lights illuminate the girls standing in one straight line with their heads bowed. Judges Frank Matano, Federica Pellegrini, Mara Maionchi, and Joe Bastianich were in for a chilling surprise.
It’s the name Black Widow that suits them well given the riveting act they’re putting on.
Slenderly cut black outfits with long, red fingertips that are a perfect match for their make up, the girls execute a series of dances unlike anything those judges have seen.
Like Hindu gods and goddesses, these girls use their arms in a sequence, making it look like the girl in front is a deity to be worshiped.
In fact, the very reason for that is to show how those gods and goddesses are so powerful that they can perform multiple acts at the same time.
Interestingly enough, the multiple handed dance is rooted in history and culture.
The site nsdancing says,
“The history of dance is rooted in Chinese, Korean and Japanese culture. Guanyin is the deity of mythology. It appears as a woman and saves people from misfortunes, saving people from all sorts of disasters. In addition, she advocates women and children. In Buddhism, Kuan Yin people are honored as the Goddess of Mercy. Her full name is Kuan Shi Yin. In translation, it means “to watch the world and sounds”. That is why this divine being is a symbol of compassion and help for those who need it.”
If the goal was to give a glimpse of the divine, these girls nailed it!
When they split in to groups, the ladies ensnare their audience with strong jabs of their arms, using those red tips to highlight the striking movements that seem to unleash power from each sequence of moves.
Italian-American judge Bastianich couldn’t stop praising the girls during the act.
His eyes are glued to the stage.
Other performers would have the audience cheering and clapping all throughout but Black Widow had them hushed in stunned silence, only eliciting a few outbursts of cheers when they pulled off a striking pose.
Nineteen girls sit cross legged across the stage and as they end the dance, the crowd are already on their feet with the judges following.
A well deserved standing ovation with nothing but high praises from the judges!
Now normally, the judges take turns sharing their thoughts but they’ve barely begun when Mara Maionchi hits the golden buzzer. Cheers erupt, tears flow, and the girls grab each other for hugs. They truly deserve it!
Maionchi is an Italian record producer and a TV personality. To impress her is a big deal! Bellissimo!
