Do you remember little Angelica Hale? People across the country fell in love with her after she impressed the America’s Got Talent judges when she was only 9 years old.
Well now, Angelica is 11 years old and she is still singing her heart out and blowing people away with her voice.
Angelica returned to the AGT stage this year for America’s Got Talent: The Champions, which is a competition of the top competitors from all of the Got Talent shows around the globe.
In 2017, Angelica first auditioned for the 12th season of AGT, where she sang “Rise Up” by Andra Day. The judges could not believe such a powerful voice could come out of someone so young.
She made it through the auditions and onto the next round, the Judge Cuts round, and she earned a Golden Buzzer from guest judge Chris Hardwick after her beautiful rendition of “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys.
Angelica made it all the way to the end of the competition, performing songs like “Clarity” by Zedd, “Without You” by David Guetta, “Symphony” by Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson. She even made it all the way to the finale of season 12 but lost the competition to Darci Lynne Farmer.
Even though she didn’t win, she did set a record for the show. Angelica became the youngest runner-up in the show’s history, as she was only 9 at the time.
Less than two years later, Angelica got her chance to return to AGT and what a spectacular return it was. She got a Golden Buzzer on her very first try!
Angelica Hale got to show off her skills on the new season of America’s Got Talent: The Champions.
When Angelica took the stage, Simon reminded her that coming in second on AGT is one of the toughest things for a person her age. Which led Angelica into explaining her song choice for this episode.
She chose to perform “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten, which is the perfect theme song for something looking to prove themselves. And it was a great choice by Angelica, she really did just that!
After she was done performing, the audience and judges were on their feet cheering for her. Heidi Klum and Mel B both told her that she could see that Angelica had come back to AGT to win.
Mel B, however, did think that Angelica could have done more with this song, based on the vocal range they’d already seen from her before. Simon Cowell did not agree at all, and neither did Howie Mandel.
Before slamming his Golden Buzzer, Howie told Angelica:
“When people show up on this show, the level of competition is that much higher. Just by the title, you are amongst champions. You show up and you rip the ceiling off this theater. And you know what? That was your fight song and if I can do anything, I’m going to help you win this fight!”
Her performance has gotten over 27 million views on YouTube and 12 million views on Facebook. After 34,000 people commented on the video on YouTube, Angelica responded to share her thanks.
Thank you all so much for the incredible reaction to my AGT Champions performance!!! I’m overwhelmed by the positive feedback and I’m just so happy and grateful that I get to move on to the Finale especially considering so many other amazing and deserving contestants and friends did not. xoxo
What do you think of this 11-year-old voice? I can’t believe she sounds so grown up!
